Hi, my name is Sean Ogle. I've spent the last decade+ of my life reviewing the best golf products and the best golf courses in the world. My goal at Breaking Eighty is to provide honest, unbiased product reviews to help you make educated decisions about the products or destinations that will allow you to find greater enjoyment in golf.
Again big "NO" for me : the subscriptions fees. If you go with ARCCOS you're paying 220€ the sensor (+244€ if you want the link pro) + 160€/year (640€ for 4 years) so minimum 860€ for four years. Meanwhile you can buy a shotscope witch is giving you about the same stats for 280€ (mine is still ok since I bought it 4 years ago). I don't get the subscriptions fees.
We love our little Caldera gem and Crosswater. We're so blessed to play here daily in the summer. The smoke is gone. Come back when we have blue skies and sunshine. (P.S. Your recommendation of the Swing Caddie gave me confidence to buy one. Used it at the Crosswater range today for the first time.)
I ordered but sensor kept falling off of my super jumbo grips. I contacted Arccos support, they told me to use tape to hold it to the club. I returned the senors.
Have had it for 3 years now using an Apple watch or original Link. Consistently misses a 3rd of my shots. Takes too long to manually add them in while playing. I don’t want to give up on it but just too frustrating. Especially for that it costs every year.
As my two hobbies are golf and hiking until now I have been using a Fenix 7X pro. Now I will move to Enduro 3 if Santa can help me out…That watch have the same/similar features but friendlier price tag with sapphire glass and huge battery.
I have an Apple Ultra, but recently started testing the DeWiz watch…so, not wanting to look weird and have a watch on both hands, I started using the Link Pro…works great. Flawless. I just wish it had a clip to clip to the inside of your pocket.
It is an absolute awesome product…on the outliers, you should still go into your shots and double check them…I’ve had some shots that were excluded that shouldn’t have been and some included that should be excluded, but rarely…just tap on the smart distance number in your stats and you’ll go to the list…I do love the highlight reel Arccos gives you now comparing you to pro stats…
What happens if you take a practice swing and hit the ground. Does it register as a shot? What about if you hit it OB and you hit a second shot from the same place?
It is very good at night counting practice shots, but say you hit a really fluffy shot that isn’t registered because it thinks it may have been practice shot, you can go into the edit function, hit “add shot” and it’ll show where potential shots were taken from, usually including those “hard practice shots.” If you hit it OB, you can either go into the score and add penalty shot at the time, or after the round…very easy.
You can take as many Mulligans from one location as you want and as long as you stay within about 5 yards, it will only register as one shot. The OB question is a little more involved because of this and Arccos has a very detailed explanation in their FAQ online.
I think the Apple Watch is the best way to use Arccos! If you stay on the shot tracking screen, you can catch any missed shots immediately and add them in or just hit your club on the ground to make it register. If you register an extra putt by accidentally hitting your putter on the ground, which I do a lot, again you can immediately subtract it. This way, I am never out of sink with my shots or distances.
Huge plus for the MLM2PRO is the amount of improvements and updates Rapsodo adds to their app. Things will continue to get better and better the more months you use it. That $200 seems like a lot after the first year free but they have added so many new additions and I don't think that will stop in the near future. The community also has a big say in what features they want to see.
As an Arccos subscriber of 2 years, and Arccos Link Pro user, I'm annoyed how they always pop out after a couple of swings so I super-glued them into the grip (vs paying $20 for the Arccos grips). I still find myself using my Garmin S70 watch to track shots since it gives the same data online that Arccos provides. You can get a lot of the same data with Garmin WITHOUT an annual subscription. I'd love to see a feature comparison (Pros and Cons).
Feature 4 was clutch - was tempted to buy the Link Pro. Are there any advantages to the Link Pro over the watch? Aside from the watch dying on me mid game?
Yes, I love using Arccos with the Apple Watch. But since I now wear a Garmin watch for all my fitness tracking, I use the Link Pro. I miss having distances and the extra Arccos data handy on my wrist, but I use the Garmin for that. But the stat tracking is so much better via Arccos than Garmin, that I still use it, despite having shot tracking built into the Fenix 8. But to answer your question benefits of Link Pro over watch: Battery life not an issue, reduces the amount of technology you're using on the course, if you're someone who likes it that way, arguably less intrusive since you just keep it in your pocket and dont need a watch. But for the most part, if you use Arccos with a newer model Apple Watch, especially an Ultra, I dont think most people need the Link Pro.
Been w/ Mevo+ since introduction and still don't see why I'd change. (I use it in a permanent sim setup so no setup issues) Flightscope PC Software has improved radically and will help bring your game to the next level as it's more professional than more toy-like offerings like R10. And more importantly: no subs.. E6 is old crap. that's why they are giving it away. It's a nice way to start but take it from somebody who paid for it for a 2 years: just get GSPro... 1000 courses for free and they are getting pretty damn impressive..
I'll chime in that the only issue I have with the MLM2Pro is the disconnects though I'll admit I don't have the best wifi strength. Other than that I don't think you can find a better value out there. I did have an issue with the power button not working (seemed like the spring behind it moved). The sent me a replacement with virtually no questions asked with another year of membership with it. Overall bang for my buck I'm very happy
There’s lots of comments that the MLM2PRO subscription is $200USD. But, on the Rapsodo website, premium membership is listed as $100USD / £60UKP, which is a lot more reasonable. Or am I missing something?
@@Busdriver1215 you receive 5 free E6 courses indefinitely with the only exception being you hold a MLM2PRO subscription. Free courses include: Aviara Belfry Sanctuary Stone Canyon Wade Hampton
Thanks for a great video - Is the S70 (or any other Garmin product) able to display the stroke index of the hole you are on? We mostly play matchplay, and is seems an obvious thing to have so you can see whether you stroke on a hole, and hence how aggressive/conservative to play vs your opponent. It is the one feature that i feel has been missing from my current and previous Garmin golf watches. Thanks
I want more information on what you consider outdoors? When you use it on the outdoor driving range, the distance provided is very accurate, and the shot shape tracker is extremely useful for seeing the ball's flight. I couldn't care less about the spin data for range balls.
Having tested and used all of these units, I completely disagree with you on these rankings. Give us the rankings of the best units and that should start with BLP/GC3 then go from there.
@breakingeighty with the Skytrack now on sale for under $1k how does that change things? I’m in no rush and was planning on going with the MLM2PRO when ready but the Skytrack sale has thrown another variable into the mix.
