This is the worst animated movie I've ever seen, and the third worst overall (behind The Cat in the Hat and Barbie). It's awful by Illumination standards. It pains me to say that if you added Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie (another atrocious animated movie) to Pixar's filmography, it would only be the second worst Pixar movie thanks to the existence of this travesty. Parents, keep yourselves and your children away from the movie at all costs.
I'm honestly surprised you had anything positive to say about this. Most of the stuff I've seen written about this show talks about the show having a "protagonist centered morality" where the nightmare side is hardly doing anything bad while the "designated heroes" just visit extreme punishment on the mooks for nothing, practically painting the mooks as Posey while the heroes are more like Gen 5's main five at their worst. I'm also kinda surprised the show looks the way it does, given that those descriptions make it sound more like a 2000s cartoon than a 1980s one.
I watched this as a kid! I remember being captivated by the visuals, but I think the general consensus between me and my brothers was that the good guys were painfully dull and the villains were the only part of the show worth watching :)
Free players cannot send friend requests or trade, for instance. I also am given to understand that once you have a paid account, you cannot go back to being on the free trial. As the person who gave Addy the subscription, I consider giving people gifts in-game an important part of playing the game, and even as a subscriber I could not do that with free players.
Saying "I can't find any convincing reasons ETD is bad, besides the technical issues" is kind of like saying "I don't see why the Titanic was a failure, besides the sinking." Like yes, everything you're saying about level design is technically true and logical, but you're hyper fixating on it and in the process glossing over the game's massive issues. The constant glitches and bad performance, lack of satisfying game feel, the super rough visuals, and the fact that the game feels fundamentally incomplete. For 99% of the player base, those ARE the convincing reasons.
With all due respect, it's a goofy game, not a work of art. I thought it seemed obvious that it's not some high-brow serious game. You wouldn't criticise a lego game for slandering the source material, so leave it alone. If you want John Carpenter done right, watch the thing. The world just needs another lego dimensions. Complain about gameplay all you want, but they promised a silly game, and it seems like they've delivered it.
from my understanding of the game, they are in a different universe and still have levels related to their respective franchises. From a story telling standpoint it wouldn’t make sense if you could only play as one character per level every level based off their franchise because the game is about all these characters crossing over into this new place, forcing you to play as someone because the level is from their franchise just doesn’t make sense, at least not for every level the game just makes sense to play like this as it’s a crossover game with a bunch of characters from it idk what you expected when it was first announced (it’s also not a bad game, clearly had time and effort put into it, a story that you can understand even without talking characters, gameplay that plays well, graphics (that could be better and more funko-y artstyle but still are fine) it’s clearly still a well made game.)
When it comes to crossovers, I always look at the feeling I get from the way it's executed. Does it feel like a kid showing off their toys that they love, or does it feel like a company putting up a museum of toys that they own.
Oooohhh... I really like this take. That's a really good way to put it. I remember crossovers being a rare gem. Now almost every game under the sun will do crossovers. It feels so saturated that most IPs that do it lose their identity in the process.
as someone that played from a realm reborn up to shadowbringers (before they removed more 30 quest from a realm reborn MSQ) i can tell you for a fact that it doesn't get better, quest are the same thing from beginning to the end, aka go talk to this guy, go kill X amount of monsters, go to a place click the interact button and wait for a few seconds and dungeons are no different, they are all the same, two or three groups of mobs them a mini boss follow by another two or three mobs and the final boss, all the same thing, the only thing that changes is the background of the dungeon and the bosses attacks Just a mid mmo, im amazed that this game didn't get shutdown
Bruh, if you're going to make ragebait then you could try being less transparent about it. The game is designed around playing with your family, including young kids. The main aspect is social. I have travelled the world meeting people I had as neighbours in this game from my non-instanced house that I grinded up to owning. If that's not your shtick then you can also play solo with the NPC "Trust". I have a great time with that, but most content is better with friends (that is a common theme), and you can customise how you play at nearly every level. You can do some things easy because it was made that way to help speed you to modern content, there's options to make it harder... like it was when that content was current. (not Fates, they are there for other mechanics in the game.. which you would know nothing about. It's optional) You are THE warrior of light, but there are other godkin who aren't as strong as you (lore reasons). Only you kill gods, everyone else helps you narritively. There's not going to be L.A. Noire level facial expressions. If they did the game would be bigger than even Baldur's Gate... which guess what, also sucks by your metric of facial expressions. You are eating a salad before the meal and saying "this steak is raw", and complaining that there's little nuance... without delving into the world and understanding you haven't even finished the prologue to the game. Which if you really wanted, you can skip... I liked your content, but damn, just say you don't play MMO's and be done with it. From the "Crystal of McGuffin" franchise... It's going to be cliché. This is as shallow as you think FFXIV is. TL;DR - "So I didn't play the game but here's my review of the tutorial".
"It gets better after the first one hundred hours" is something I've heard a lot of after subscribing to Josh Strife Hayes. It shouldn't have to be that way, though.
XIV is one of those things where it's like: I don't give a shit about the plot, y'know, that thing that's the main draw according to a lot of people; I definitely don't want to give Square-Enix my money. But every time I see it I get the severe temptation because I really want to play as one of those cute dragon ladies and put in the XX or even 3-digit number of hours to unlock the armour transmog stuff.
damn... I heard really great things about this game but it's a shame that it is still like this. Can't even have story missions where there's any actually threat even hours into the game :/ It's a small thing but one thing I appreciate about Warframe despite it also arguably being a MMO-esque/game-as-service video game is that at least in setting there are other Tenno running around and doing things and your player character is just one in the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time. Again it's a small thing but it's nice knowing that you are not the only "Special character" in the setting so your place in it doesn't feel too weird compared to the only chosen one but there's also dozens of chosen ones in social places but they don't get to help you out in story missions so no co-op with your friends :Y
