I’ve just come across your videos and they really helpful. You have a ton of knowledge and skill. I just build for myself and my wife. I’m wondering if you’ve tried a tiger wrap with a 3 thread base of metallics, say black, silver and copper finished with a silk black thread for the top layer?

Hi Paul. First can you get me on Messenger or Email? Second Can you send pictures? To answer the question you asked about burnishing. If you forget the bottom you can still get a nice Tiger by just burnishing the top layer. Also I need the know the thread sizes, whether they are NCP or plain and what company. Also need to be sure you are wrapping the two layers in opposite directions. If you get me on messenger we can talk face to face or call me at 805 390 8724.

Hello Doc I am new to rod building. In fact I am still just practicing and I actually have never made a rod. I have been trying to watch as many videos as I can and I would like you to know that yours are my favorite. You have some of the most beautiful work I have ever seen, especially your tiger wraps. As a veteran I truly appreciate all the hard work you put into building rods that will help to go to someone and let them know that there are people who really do thank them for what they have done. I have a lot of questions but I’ll save them for later as I still have much practice left to try and get the basics down. What I was wondering though is if you have a schedule that you put out new videos. I’ve heard you mention that you are getting older( I can relate)and I truly appreciate that but you have such an awesome gift and I want to be sure I see everything you put out. Also I was wondering if maybe you could give me some names of other builders that put out videos on rod building. I actually bought a power wrapper @1990 and I just unpacked it @2 weeks ago. I have much to learn and RU-vid is a great way to see all the gifted builders such as yourself. Any names you can give I will truly appreciate. Thanks again for your dedication to helping those you help us keep this great land. Lord knows they need to be told and shown that they are heroes. in today’s times it often feels that people don’t care Best wishes and God’s speed Bill

I was watching U tube videos to try and find out how to do multiple trim band in different colors without the bump of a knot or a twist. I had this video from awhile ago and I'm so glad that I found it again. Your methodology is spot on. Easy to follow clear and to the point. Thank you!! Anyway while watching videos I came across another one of yours in which you make mention of a Veterans program called Project Healing Waters. I couldn't believe that you mentioned them. I am a Vet in Florida that is trying to help out with the program here to build Fly Rods I love thread art and welcome your wealth of knowledge on the subject. If I have any questions is there another way to contact you? Thanks again you are helping a lot of people more than you know.
