My name is Chris Stephens and I am a TV host for the Discovery Channel, while I’m not filming I’m also running a shop in Maryland specializing in European Autos with my brother Marc. Buying, selling, fixing and driving cars!
HI, love the video. Don't ever take it down. I have one in my garage that needs a little work...same color!...so your video motivates me. Quick question: I really like the thin black side trim pieces...Did you buy them and if so where? Same question for the rear whale tale.
very interested in this car, would love to see/hear more about the maintenance/carfax/restoration on it. Only thing is I live on the east coast :( Very cautious about going across country for this.
My mom had a E30 just like this I use to drive it all the time same color inside and out. I’m thinking about getting me one because my mom had one now that she passed away I want to get me one in remembering of my mom.
Oh the memories…my mom had a brand new Delphin grey, leather interior, sports seats…thing sounded like a diesel on cold starts, and slow as all heck with that 4500rpm redline paired to a slushbox. First time I ever saw separate tweeters which made that factory Alpine sound so sweet.
@@etmracingthanks for the reply. Dinan used to make a chip you could swap. I wound up getting an -es manual eventually and the chip really woke the car up, gave it like a 5300rpm redline.
. I have a 71 1.7 that I just got it sorted out love the car but not a fan of the knock off Fuchs. I love those steelies and think I may go that route. Does that exhaust allow for the Heat exchangers
@@bryanpiereson8083 they definitely need slight modifications, in stock form they are just plain weak… including the 914-6, which is basically just 1 more lug bolt for visuals. The cars sit way too high in the front for regulation and the wheels are just too tucked in. But once again, just my opinion. I’ve had 17 of them now, including six’s. This car turned heads, stock ones looks like VWs
Had mine for 10 years, until someone hit me and totaled my car. Amazingly enough, the car is so solid that I was able to safely drive it away. Unfortunately it didn't pass the safety check. But I totally miss my 535is...the best car I've ever owned.
@@richardacevedo8923 so much fun! You get the Porsche feel and aircooled coolness without the overpricing that the 911 badge carries. I have both, and the 914 gets way more seat time.
@@DibeezyTheGifted yeah they still offered it, it was actually a upgrade for the 1 1/8 and 990 mounts Grab a Dans Comp BMX Plus from those years and you’ll see so many cool details for frames, parts, and clothing. Also a great guide for building period correct bikes
Use a nickel to keep the cupholders closed. Turn the ac compressor off about a minute before you turn the car off. It will last longer. First start up of the day, wait until your green dots go off before driving. That is about eight seconds. Also, those dots tell you when your next oil service is due. Ordinarily about every six months. Air filter, too. Absolutely NEVER run low on coolant. Always keep a bottle of drinking water in the door pocket. Stop the car if the temperature Guage gets close to the red. Keep the tires at 34psi regardless of what is printed on the door inside. A clunking noise over bumps usually means lower control arm bushings need replacing. Do not park close to parking blocks and sidewalks as you will scratch your spoiler and wheels easily. Sometimes door lock mechanism will need to be lubrication. The module central locking and interior lighting is hidden in the trunk. These M54 engines are dead smooth. To hear them, you have to open the hood (bonnet). If you hear a rattling noise it might be the DISA VALVE. Fix it immediately or the engine will suck in the rivet. It is not an expensive item. Available at Walmart believe it or not. The new one's rivet is assembled in reverse and will not fall into the motor. They seem to last about ten years. Do the maintenance.
@@joshuaaltman8202 I had the story with the brother filmed with mics and everything after I finished the build, unfortunately there was too many technical errors. I did get some cool photos with them reuniting though
I almost bought SE proto Big Daddy. I just couldn't spend $350 on a frame so chewed up. Se is near. I could have taken it to them for repair. At the same time I also wanted Tao prototype from the Standard country ad for $550. Oh well.
Hi 👋 nice video, you found a gold mine!!! Where is this place? I’m looking for an engine to put in MGTF replica? I’ve never heard of these cars before, n when I heard of an air cool engine I just had to have one. Thank you for taking your time to make this video 😊
