Many of you know Roberto as the wise cracking, song parody creator of The Valenti Show with Rico on 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit. Listening to music of all kinds at the highest level (he can afford, LOL) is his passion. Join Roberto on his musical journey of finding audio treasures as well as good natured debates on what music 'sucks' or 'rocks!'
ok i subbed, happy now? i agree with all you showed. except the Clapton only cuz i never heard it. the shame about that version of deep purple never really took off live.
I like the Mick Jagger vocals on Dirty Works. Keith claimed Mick didn’t care and just mailed it in. That may be true but Jagger not taking himself too serious is not a bad thing.
How can you make this video and not include Rush 2112? Their previous 3 albums didn’t sell well, their record label gave them one more chance to make an album that would sell or they would be dropped. The band thought their career was over and instead of making a radio friendly album they made the album they wanted to make thinking it was their last. The album ended up adding 36 more years to their career, taking them from an opening act to headliners and eventually an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
I always want physical content such as Cds and all artists need to put out Cds and albums. Keep doing music digitally and cassettes as an option because Japan is buying cassettes today at the least. I believe Cds, albums and digital can live together in harmony. I know lots of people want Cds and they should always be available. I buy everything including streaming for music and find Cds to be the best option in price and portability. Compressed music is usually not as good as Cds. Cds have sold better the last two years too
Man, I agree with your premise about these so called " bad albums ". I'm attracted to them even more, like Iron Maiden's No Pray For The Dying. People hate on this album, but I love this album and I have it at number five in my ranking the the Iron Maiden albums.
@@robertoboschian Yep, and it came after their magnum opus seven son of the seven son. I call these black sheep albums. Another black sheep album that I like a whole lot is Megadeth's So Far So Good So What.
Come taste the band is my favourite purple album. So good, the only thing that sux is they end the solo on you keep on moving way too quick. Just gets going and it finishes😔
Agree with you on several key Lp s you pick. Don t give a damn about critics or some small minded fans... Yes Drama, DP Comes taste the band , Sabbaths Never Say Die are ALL absolute classics ! Sabbath LP is massively impressive almost prog jazz metal . Far superior to their sludge Lps such as Master of Reality... See my Channel if yr curious. DP s Come taste is in my top ten all time most played... Cheers from Liverpool UK
As a huge Rush and Clapton fan, I am also a huge fan of both Hold Your Fire and August. My one gripe about Hold Your Fire is that it's a bit too clean - the tracks sounded great live and as usual, the songwriting was tremendous. I loved Prime Mover and Turn the Page, and of course Time Stand Still and Force Ten were incredible. You touched on one of my favorite songs from August, Behind the Mask, and the last track, Grand Illusion, is also excellent. As you said, with Nathan East, Greg Phillenges, Phil Collins, Tina Turner - it's kind of hard to argue with the great results. Great list.
Awesome feedback! My favorite track on Hold Your Fire is Lock and Key. Listening to Michael Jackson sing Behind The Mask and comparing it to Clapton is fun!
Love 'Hold Your Fire' and to this day still love 'Time Stand Still' with Aimee Mann, their only song ever with a co-vocalist and at that, a female co-vocalist. Awesome song and awesome album. The band thought it was better than some of their predecessors but Alex never liked the inclusion of 'Tai Shan' on the album and called it one of their worst songs. I like it as I do the entire album. I thought it was a good closing song to the album.
The album before 'Drama' (1980) was 'Tormato' (1978) and to me 'Drama' wasn't that far a departure from 'Tormato' other than Anderson at lead vocals. But is it a departure from 'Going for the One' (1977), absolutely.
Drama is a very good LP. I put it 3rd behind TYA and Fragile as Yes’ best. T Horn / Downes truly inspired replacements. (fwiw, Tormato was the last one before Drama in 78.)
The hell! I've ALWAYS known Rush to use SYNNTHESIZERS (to some degree) in their music - even on their more popular albums. And if I'm right here, that 90 album (which you briefly mentioned and the title of which escapes me at the moment) actually incorporated some RAP (which I recall REALLY bothered a lot of their fans).
Roberto! Im glad you're back I was getting worried. I loved this episode. SO many great albums. Personal favorites we're Live After Death ( I went to that concert too) and Rush Exit Stage Left. The live version of Xanadu is one of my all time favorites. Great job brother, keep em coming.
I've always loved Eric Clapton's August album. In fact, I'd say that, as a guitar player, he peaked during the 80s and early 90s, and he's rarely played better than he does on August. "Miss You" is a great example of this. It's on FIRE! And it's too bad that one of the best songs from those sessions (Grand Illusion) is only available on the CD version. It's a fantastic cover of an already great song.
