So glad you’re back making videos! I’ve missed watching them. Some great picks for your Magical Readathon, can’t wait to hear how you get on with them.
Welcome back. I was just thinking about you and was excited to see a video. I will finally be joining the magical readathon in August. I have created my character and am reading books for the novice path and their background currently. So fun!
I am much older than you, so I have had to come to terms with the fact that I can't own every book I read. I wouldn't be physically able to. I stopped buying every book by an author just to have a complete physical set. I might collect all the ebooks but I only keep the physical favorites. There is a never-ending stream of limited edition and collectors sets of all popular books and series. Over time, one gets immune unless there is an absolute favorite. And then one only needs a single copy.
Thank you for the comments! I definitely see myself changing as I get older, and may be I will become stricter or more lax with what I keep and what I let go of. I already see myself changing and not feeling the need to keep as many editions as I formulate more of a collection!
Good job unhauling. I say when in doubt, let it go. Unless a book is out of print and in ebook format, it's not like you can't read it the future if you really are dying to. Books should be a joy, not a burden that makes you feel guilt for not reading, or stress from not having room for books you love. And tbh, having multiple copies of multiple series seems like a luxury that few can support storing. Let the books you don't love go to make room for new loves, and let the ones you won't re-read go so others can find them. I sometimes only keep one book of a series if I didn't love the rest enough to re-read. There are synopses online if one needs a refresher on the plot. I love well-designed books are beautiful objects, but having multiple copies is not necessary. About signed books - yes, those are harder to let go, especially when personalized. I go back to how much I love the book and whether keeping it will prevent me from keeping a book I like better. Tastes do change. And if you take a photo of the signature, you still have the memory. Add it to your reading journal with a paragraph about how you felt at the time.
never read Kiki's delivery service, but of course I adore the film! I should give it a go sometime soon!! might be the key to find answers to my shouldnt-be chase for a-friend-slash-partner with similar tastes 😅
(UNRELATED/IRRELEVANT COMMENT may I ask how did you two meet? you seem to have such a super healthy bond! just asking for some help to find ppl who also like reading but are obvioulsy not in any kind of situationship already - which tends to never be the case.....
Funny that you wouldn't mention that The Storygraph is also woman owned. Personally, I think all of that signaling is both racist and sexist and condescending / insulting AF to the person being discussed, but if you're going to go there why leave out the fact that she's female?
Quick question, are the editions of this set all black without their cover on? I have a copy of Silver Flames and the naked hardback is orange. I was hoping this set was cohesive and all black. Love the covers you selected!
Brilliant vlog, really enjoyed it. Great seeing the holidays too and the scenery at 40:57 reminds me of Oregon and Washington. Amy’l be starting it tonight and will really appreciate all the effort with the DV Hi8 filming. Thanks and code word 🍌

Hi, congratulations for your reviews. I have always followed your advice. I was really struck by the beauty of "Motion Detection", a thriller book that I found by chance on Amz while looking for a book by Freida McFadden. The cover intrigued me, it's an unusual book with a spectacular ending, I highly recommend it!
