Beautiful aircraft sir and some amazing scenery for flying. Not a pilot, but I truly appreciate everything about aviation and tail draggers are just the coolest. Enjoy.
I’ve seen a lot of these type videos but yours is one of the easiest to watch; very nice job! Root Ranch and the B are so much fun and the food is great. Ive enjoyed sharing the experience with flying pals and family. Blessed to have a Skywagon.
Amazing and beautiful. The trail looks very difficult. Good for all of you for completing….had to be exhausting and exhilarating at the same time. I enjoy seeing/hearing about your adventures! Thanks for sharing.
Justin, I'm here. Been working on the plane, another new fuel cell, and doing a little local flying down in AZ. I am planning on doing some more videos @ spring break time. Thanks for checking in. Jim
besides getting killed 12 times and eaten by cannibals , it was a pretty boring job lol most of the time in pure terror on some of those remote mtn strips uphill down hill barely wide enough for the landing gear. lots and lots of dangerous mtn s at the end of most of those runways
okay i have to say this the videos are cool however id of taken a pretty lady instead of him lol damn he is ugly. im sure the griz/s would like him as a good snack lol my gf is also a pilot and want to make a trip up to the provinces in northern canada this summer either take the 421 or the 180 i also had a bladder tank installed.35 gal. i do not like running low on fuel
id lof left your buddy at a remote airstrip/ he needs to keep his hands off that strut bar. i dunno you have some strange friends lol nice trip.i wont ever do it again. i am in omak washington. my dog was a better pasenger lolshe just slept most of the way. then i let her fly for a while as i took a nap lol
terrible addons on your face. kinda dumb looks like a amateur filming. get to the video. i have made that trip from here in upstate washington i wont go back to alaska. the mosquitos damn near destoryed my paint job and windshield had to pressure wash it in Alaska 4 times. the front jugs damn near overheated.
Fantastic content Jim! I have thoroughly enjoyed all your videos and your editing/ production value is excellent. Please keep making more - I for one really appreciate your style and you sharing your flying excursions. Thank you, ES
Franklin in a 170? Think that was an STC. Every 170 I have had and or workd on from straight 48 to the B had a Continental C 145 Or O 300. Nice ship though good looking 180 you have.
I have limited experience up there, but everyone seems to agree that low ceilings are part of Alaskan flying. Always keep an exit available. Thanks for watching. Jim
I went up on a one hour sight-seeing tour in Lindsay, Ontario , Canada. After ten minutes the Pilot let me take the wheel for a minute. Wow...where the Controls ever sensitive in that noisy bird.! I was thrilled. The only other Float/ Airplane I was aboard a single-engine Otter up in Geraldton, Ontario I was a Junior Ranger in 1974....my fondest years !! I enjoy my flying games on CPU & love the dream of flying. Great Video, Captain ! Be well, Sir
Jim, you are doing Great, don’t change a thing, i monitor a couple of hundred channels and retired from Nielsen Media Research, i am a student pilot, been watching Aviation Videos for 10 years! I have watched experts do Alaska Trips! Watching yours is like watching John Wayne fly! Yours have that Western Flavor! Carry On Sir! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Jim . . . always great stuff you post. I watched this two days ago when it came out and my mind is still savoring and replaying (in my mind) your trip. Many years ago a CFII at the local junior college was having a Mountain Flying clinic in the California Sierras. (Baby stuff compared to Cabin Creek!) One of the best books on mountain flying was "Mountain Flying Bible, by the late Sparky Imeson. Your Idaho trek reminded me a genealogist digging into our family history whereby I dug deeper and found "Danskin Lookout", "Danskin Canyon" and "Danskin Peak" 7.5' topo! Keep it up!
Richard Holm’s book is a must read for anyone interested in the Idaho backcountry, great video. I am surprised you are running grooved tires in the backcountry, no worries about them throwing rocks/pebbles?
