I remember how my Mother loved her and used to say some of her catch phases now and then. Her favourite one was; "I must get a little hand put on this watch" . As a Child I loved watching 'Nearest and Dearest ', it was very funny and very entertaining. What fabulous Lancashire Star.
I saw Hylda live several times at the Empire Theatre in Leeds in the 1950s. She always brought the house down, with a different Cynthia (a man in drag) each appearance.
'Otherwise why were they singing??' Can you imagine the uproar that genius line would invite in this grey depressing woke landscape we find ourselves in these days. Simply genius writing from start to finish..............................VW was just a lrgend.
Loved this, in the dept I work in I'm the only gay one and I am the least PC about it. Wokeism has ruined comedy esp those who get offended 'on other peoples behalf'
Absolutely stunning what an amazing actor comedian and clog dancing she was fit and wasn’t she so underrated bless her I love watching nearest and dearest I’m 68 but I remember her when I was only 14
A really funny lady. Her, like, never to be seen again. Except on channels like this. Thank you , I was a regular viewer many years ago, of Pledges Pickles and all her wonderfully, funny Malapropisms.
