I'm in my 5th year of surviving Prostate Cancer. Surgery, Recurrence, PSMA-PET Positive two local lymph nodes; radiation, 18 months Lupron. Now 5 months on the Carnivore diet and I have never felt better in my life! No joint pain anymore. Way stronger than when eating plants. Eager to workout now. Thriving as a human. Testosterone back to normal. PSA remains non detectable.

I’m having the Aquablation procedure on May 28th, 2024. I don’t have an excessively large prostate but I do have what’s called a median lobe where the prostate is growing up pushing on my bladder restricting the outlet causing an overactive bladder. I’m a week away and hope the recovery goes well. I’ve been fighting this problem for at least a decade of having to pee a hundred times a day and night. An awful way to live. I tried the flomax. That was not good for me and when I stopped it I experienced dizziness that was horrible. So I decided on Aquablation.

As I am a diabetic person My physician asked me to do a PSA checkup test with Hemoglobin A1C .The result was a little bit high 5.54 ng/ml , and he referred me to a specialist. An MRI and a biopsy later, I discovered I was a 65 year old living with a Gleason 6 prostate cancer. I'm so grateful that my Doctor took action, knew that there was a history of prostate cancer in my family and encouraged me to do the test. I now can do active surveillance and get on with my life. Now I changed all my life style and start ketogenic diet In addition to I stop eating dairy foods and sugar and rice and and all products that feeds cancer since 3 months also I practice prolonged DRY fasting about 17 hrs for one month and i do two Psa tests one after 2 months and it was 3.54ng/ml and the other one after dry fasting and it was 2.7ng/ml . I lost about 12 KGS since 3 months That encourage me to complete fasting hoping that tumor marker will give me more good results.

Please can you help me to understand what happened with my case… when I choose active surveillance l hope after awhile that my prostate gland will stay in this recent stage and the PSA results will not increased…but what happened after practicing dry fasting for more than one month was amazing thePsa values total and free decreased from 5.54 to 2.7 for total and from 0.58 to 0.26 for free..... My second question if I go ahead with anther dry fasting period about 10 days per month the PSA may decrease to approach from the normal records

Can you help my husband to keep all his function? Can you explain this to me please, our urologist never did. The 3T MRI, no contrast, was done in May. Not seen a doctor since begining of May just before this MRI. Thank-you Prostate gland measures 6.6, 5.5, 4.4 centimeters on CC, TR and AP dimensions respectively with estimated volume of 84 cc and PSA density of 0.063 ng/ml/cm3. 9.5 mm ill-defined nodule with obscured margins are noted within posterior medial aspect of left peripheral zone at mid gland which show mild hypointense signal on ADC and mild hyperintense signal on high B value DWI sequences likely representing PI-RADS 2/3 lesion. No other peripheral zone lesion is noted. PSA is 4.86.

@@janetw9430 - understandable. Podcast content for informational purposes - nothing in Podcast to be construed as medical advice. Dr. Pohlman, I just had a cystoscopy done and my urologist pointed out during the procedure the median lobe was the main cause of impeding flow. I do have an enlarged prostate as well. We discussed the TURP option and the prospect of permanent retrograde ejaculation is disconcerting. He said he would start with incising the median lobe, is this something similar to what you described in this podcast? Should I be asking him about the procedures you talked about? He mentioned nothing of what you talked about preserving anti grade ejaculation.
@garrettpohlmanmd
@garrettpohlmanmd 6 месяцев назад
Unfortunately there are still urologists who don’t fully understand all of the techniques available to spare ejaculatory function. We can certainly help coach you through what questions you need to be asking as well as all available options in the Prostate Health Academy.

@@garrettpohlmanmd Dr. Pohlman, thank you for your reply. I signed up for PHA and searched around, is there a list on the site of doctors nationwide that perform the new techniques available and is there a name for this new procedure? I have a high risk stage 4 PC and have just had a course of 6 sessions of RT . It went well with very little in the way of side effects. So I guess that was Sbrt I would also comment that I have seen some papers that say that for PC it is more effected by high doses rather than lots of lower doses ( something about the alpha/ beta ratio-google it if you’re interested) -so I am happy that my oncologist went for this ( it also was much more convenient for me)

If you're considering the therapy, be sure to investigate the difference between Ultra Sound and MRI guidance. Targeting is at least important as the laser. Huge.

Outstanding presentation on Salvage options after radiation failure. It appears I'm in this boat. Rapidly rising PSA after radiation treatment. The CT pelvic scan and the skeleton imaging did not show metastasis prostate cancer anywhere,,my oncologist schedule me for a PMSA PET SCAN approximately two weeks from today. I see now if they don't find anything with the PMSA doesn't necessarily mean I'm free and clear. It just mean possibly a MRI, with a guided biopsy. This feels like it will never end for me but I will continue to push on
