Very nice. ***EDIT: Nevermind rest of my comment below. You shared my favorite story @**13:43**. You're awesome. Salam.*** The funniest thing in this entire saga was when Chris Goggans aka Erik Bloodaxe set up his new business (named COMSEC) as hackers-turned-consultants. One day he received a telephone call from Craig Neidorf who was complaining about receiving too many prank phone calls. Goggans accused Corrupt (member of MoD, aka John Lee) of being behind those jokes, saying ==> "Sounds like Corrupt. It sounds like something he would do."....not realizing Corrupt was on the line listening to that very conversation. John Lee couldn't help himself. He dialed COMSEC business number, and when Goggans put Neidorf on hold on to answer the line, Corrupt says: "Yeah, that does sound like something I would do." Loooooooooooooooool.

I’m sorry to say, the cigarette smoking needs to stay! People are always smoking in Japan, and especially 20+ years ago when this is set. Just would not feel authentic to me otherwise. 😅Thanks for the review. I love the show, but I think I can skip the book!

Tokyo Vice is the best show on TV, so glad that the BBC picked up both seasons so we can watch this gem in the UK, hoping for a prequel chronicling Ishida's rise to power in the Chihara Kai ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

2:30 Why did you not give the name of the matematician whose work Grigori Perelman built on, to solve the Poincaré conjecture? It's Richard Streit Hamilton: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_S._Hamilton

I remember LOD, had an Apple ][+ and was phreak so I could call BBS's all over the country. Those were the days ;P Even had LOD's infamous software, which didn't actually do everything the rumors said it did. Only delt with "31337" BBS's like The Trade Center, Knight Lightning's Metalland BBS's, Speed Demon Elite, etc. The conference calls were on AT&T Alliance Teleconference. It used to get taken over by "hackers/phreaks" on the weekends. Use someones PBX to dial in to Alliance, call a hacker buddy from the teleconference and the transfer control to them, so they can now add people. This was "plausible" deniability (so we thought) "I dunno who started the teleconference, someone just called me..." Since business almost never used Alliance on weekends, AT&T finally shut it down on weekends.

I like walking. I get bored and fidgety so I like to pace indoors. I also like to go on long walks outdoors on the weekend. The motivation for me is walking itself, I like the way my body feels in motion while upright.

I doubt the LLMs that come out are cutting edge. A.I. should be known for fast processing of large batches of data, pattern-matching capabilities, and rigorous logic. If there are math A.I.s the language capability is secondary, and the current types of released chatbots will never amount to researchers.

Sounds awesome. But get your grammar right: "based ON not based off."
@kozlivska
@kozlivska 7 месяцев назад
Hi! Sorry to get into this, but here's what I found :) The usual preposition used with the verb base has been on or upon for a long time (“based on the novel,” “based upon their research”). In recent decades off or off of has also been used with the same meaning (“based off their experience,” “based off of the book of the same name”), and since this form is newer, it may seem less formal and less correct to some readers. I hope it makes sense!

@@kozlivska It's unfortunate that new generations are trying to dumb down grammar because it easier for them. Just another way English speakers, especially in the US, are deteriorating our nation. News reporters using bad grammar are exacerbating it. 😥😠

I recognize about a third of the books on your list and seems you've had an eventful, treasured year. Cixin Liu's "Death's End", the final book in the "Three-Body Problem" series, has profoundly impacted me, leaving both a void and a sense of awe. It's the longest decrescendo or diminuendo. Strangely, the series felt like music to me. His exceptional worldbuilding, visionary storytelling, and occasional tenderness had me constantly amazed. I also read "Ball Lightning," and while it's good, it doesn't quite match the "Three-Body Problem" series. I highly recommend checking out this series if it's not already on your radar. And if you're familiar with it, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the trilogy.

I read the series last year. I really loved the concepts in Death's End. I thought the series was a little slow-moving and finally started to pick up speed in the last third of the second book. There is A LOT of payoff in the last book. Death's End was my favorite, it was mind blowing. I'll be doing an episode on the trilogy in the future.

I was forced to take an implant at 316 east chestnut st Louisville ky in July of 2012 at the ccc jail by a nurse named Diane Hurstbourne after seeing Edd Hurstbourne using the equipment in the the same jail to torture someone. I've been a test subject or (TARGETED INDIVIDUAL) for the last 8 years, receiving voice to skull and remote Neural Monitoring from Darla Hurstbourne and her twin brother little prick Hurstbourne. He has be known to perform oral sex on the inmates to make friends and hire them to help. I have an x ray showing the chip in Louisville. I moved out of ky to avoid being set up by the Louisville Metro Police Department. If your from Louisville you know what I'm talking about....fake cia training center. I know the name of the tech that updated the system in the basement(braingate system) help me put a stop to this inhumane testing and torture. I have the chip, I have an x ray. I eyewitnesseed the braingate system being used. My family and friends as well as councilors believe me. I have called the police departments. (LMPD and Sheriff) as well as the ombudsman. They all know what I'm talking about, but it's out of their jurisdiction. It's corrections jurisdiction.They never answer the phone. Ever.

What better game than chess do you think would allow for more creativity? I wonder if AI could make this for us.

Finished it. In the story it mentions plastic wrappers in the trash pit, and also neon city lights, which doesn't feel quite right for Bas-Lag in my opinion. I'll likely do a video of Mieville's 3 novellas in a future video.

I can't believe I've never seen that, I thought I had seen all of Patton's stand-up. I knew that they did that tour together, and Oswalt and Posehn talked about it on stage, but I didn't realize it was a documentary film. Thanks for the telling me about it!

Hi Steve, I liked your videos! The visuals and sounds are both great, except for the headshot, which is not as good as how you look in the videos. I hope you find a topic that resonates with so many people that your videos go viral. Then you can interview people to go to the next level. I wish you great success!

Something I forgot to mention in the video, the second part of Man's Search for Meaning is about his psychological theory called logotherapy. I didn't find this part interesting and would recommend just reading the memoir.
