Welcome! I hope to bring you through my creative musical process as I learn, play, and teach, focusing primarily on synth hardware. New videos every weekend with a focus on:
Have you messed around with the tracker+? Man there’s so much good hardware out right now and I’m struggling to figure out what I want to get next. I currently have the OG Digitakt and the digitone (both are relatively new to me and I’ve really been enjoying your videos on those), I also have the dirtywave M8 which has proven to be one of my favorite devices ever. I used to have the original Polyend play and I really liked it but I’ve been hesitant to try out the plus just because of its seeming inability to integrate itself with other devices. I’m now torn between the Octatrack and the Tracker+…. But the play plus is also tempting. I worked out a deal with a guy in Seattle to get a black Octatrack for $1000 but I haven’t been able to make my way up there yet because I keep running into various needs for money which is keeping me from being able to spend that much all at once. I could get the tracker plus or the play plus on monthly payments online which is much more doable right now, but I haven’t been able to pull that trigger either because I really want an Octatrack. I feel completely frozen.. I also realize that I totally already have enough gear to make music with, but my GAS is strong and I feel the need for just one more device, and then I can chill for a while. I’m loving the Elektron workflow. If I were to get the Octatrack I would probably sell one of my other devices. What do you suggest?? For reference, I also have a Torso T1 and a Yamaha SEQTRAK. Most likely going to return the SEQTRAK though.
@@lnknmusic tbh, it sounds like you have a ton of great gear already - start making music and see where you think any deficiencies may lie (ie, if there’s something you *can’t* do with the hardware you’ve got). Just the Digitakt & Digitone can get you super super far!
@@kylesimpkins3311 thanks bud! I realized I never uploaded these jams from last year to Shorts, so I’m diving through my back catalogue. Got plenty more to come 😎

Amazing! Could you share the sounds design process to get that sound ?
Thanks! I used samples from the pack Lakeshore Afterimage on Splice, and then chopped up/re-pitched portions of long-form samples to create the progression
Isn't plaits the newer version of breads and you had them both next to each other? Looks like you jumped on the mutable band wagon. And no sealegs and clouds arguably the best ones I want from them with my plaits. I haven't bought a mod in 13 months and I'm dying to get some now but I've been researching and playing my synths everyday. Something about analog blowing the hairs of your legs.
@@SlowHaste of course, thank you! I’m coming from the MPC and trying to find interesting ways of working with longer samples. That’s a great technique to get a new melody from the sample (without sample chop performance that one would do on the MPC).
Patch 2 is precisely what makes this synth a knockout for me, personally. It sounds like it came from a vintage, boutique synthesizer, but instead it's this (lovable) little bean! This synth is an absolute sleeper, imho
@@ryanstevens283 not currently :(. I had a pretty bad knee injury earlier this year and had it repaired this summer, I’m still recovering from that - so I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus!
I’ve always wanted to buy one of these: OP-1 Field, Digitone, Digitakt but I just can’t decide which would be more useful for me. I’ll probably wait a couple of months to see if there will be a Digitone 2 released.
So it seems this unit can be used as a synth keyboard not just for making beats? I don’t know much about these types of units but would like to learn more
dude! show us how you did that harmonium patch. I copied the knob positions but did not get the sound that you're playing at all. I LOVE harmonium sounds
Hi friend, I have a question. I have a Digitakt and I want to buy a Digitone, but I want to know if using the Digitakt song mode the Digitone is synchronized, can the two machines work with the same song mode, using the Digitakt as the main brain? Thanks for your time👊
HELP: When I select EDIT MODE the MULTI ENGINE page comes on BUT I don't see the "NOISE 1" feature? All I see is MULI ENGINE and the USB icon at the bottom left. I've already reset the Factory Reset. Also, the sound your playing on NOISE 1 function is found nowhere. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help. Did you create a preset and thats why it shows up on yours?
I much, much prefer the deeper singular synth engines of the digitone and analog 4 (and kind of the octatrack if you count deep sampling ability) over the more simple machine based synth engines. It just feels so much more flexible and dynamic, I love being able to create a snare patch and then completely change it to some other crazy percussive sound with param-locks within just one pattern. You can’t just go anywhere from where you are in a machine based workflow.
