I think it's significant that the crucible knights come in two flavors, tree and axe, as this may indicate to whom they owe their allegiance to. The axe is the symbol of Godfrey and this might explain why it is the axe knights that tend to be serving other masters in rebellion of the Erdtree or indifferent to it. Conversely, the tree is the symbol of Marika (and her mightiest weapon, if Mountaintop of the Giants is any indication) which might indicate that the tree knights served her, albeit under the direction of Godfrey. This would help explain why several of them remain to protect Leyndell while no axe knights do as it wouldn't have been their master, merely their boss, who was exiled in favor of Radagon.
I've always believed Fortissax was actually female and was Godwyn's lover. Unlike Lansseax & others, every single item description that mentions Fortissax suspiciously avoids revealing 'its' gender as 'it' is mostly ever referenced using words like "its" and "ancient dragon". If true it could explain the creation of Greyoll & the nippled-Wyverns, the Dragon Cult, why Godrick refers to the dead Wyvern as being a trueborn heir and 'kindred', and why Fortissax would be willing to follow & defend Godwyn in Death, and would be against Fia sleeping with his body. Example In-Game Text: *Remembrance of Lichdragon Fortissax- "...the 'ancient dragon' fought long and hard against the Death within 'its' companion. Alas victory was never achieved and 'its' only reward was corruption." *Fortissax's Lightning Spear- "...twin red lighting stakes were the hallmark of the once ''ancient dragon' who was called the mightiest boulderstone" *Lansseax Glaive- " Lansseax was the 'sister' of Fortissax. It is said 'she' took the form of a human to commune with the knights as a priestess of the ancient dragon cult - " (immediately states her gender and pronouns unlike how Fortissax is referenced) *Lightning Incantations- "...Godwyn the Golden defeated 'the ancient dragon Fortissax', and befriended his fallen foe" (could have said, "...and befriended him or her, but goes out if its way to self-reference Godwyn's actions and gender in order to obfuscate Fortissax's gender.)
Ranni got the knife from Marika. It says that Maliketh was betrayed(ofc by marika) and his only role was to keep the rune of death... so therefor she betrayed him by stealing it from him, noone else could. Maliketh was fear by everyone(except marika i presume)
My thoughts are along the same lines. It's said Ranni stole destined death, I believe Marika allowed it to happen on purpose. Something along the lines of opening the door to her bedchamber where Maliketh slept.
Okay so what are the soldiers of limgrave doing at the start right off the bat, let's see fighting intense battles with demi humans, usurping rule just to be put back down by demi humans, getting overthrown by misbegottens, standing around in caves and or looting corpses, and or holding fortresses and positions that make Jack shit
Because Miquella has essentially abandoned his Empyrean flesh and now exists in soul alone I could see Miquella inhabiting Godwyns soulless body as he rises from his throne of roots Something which I’ve theorised might happen in ASOIAF as well, with Bran Stark (an empyreon parallel character) inhabiting the body of an ancient hero buried beneath the Weirwood in the crypts of Winterfell
One of my favorite theories is that Miquella and Ranni had some form of cooperation that may have involved Godwyn's willing participation in being slain. He chose peace instead of extermination. He doesnt share his mother's genocidal paranoia. He chose to offer a hand rather than a final blow to a battered and beaten foe. Its fascinating to think he may have willingly gone into Death to expose the flaws that both Ranni and Miquella found within the Golden Order. Its why Ranni vows her Age reign only 1000 years. She is prepared to hand off the next Age because she realized that Marika's rule turned the Lands Between stagnant and ignorant in an effort for Marika to retain her relevance as faith in her power waned with the First Burning of the Erdtree, requiring the formation of the Golden Order. She sought to reign forever as a grand saviour.
I truly think that Godwyn and Mesmer are twins. Every sibling is paired with another except for Godwyn. And if you look at Mesmer they are the exact opposite (much like Mohg and Morgot). One being the literal Golden child for the Elden Ring and the other being In juxtaposition to that with his blasphemous ideologies and fundamentals.
I gotta disagree with you on the idea that it’s Fias plan and doesn’t have much to do with Godwyn. If you decide to attack Fia in the prince of deaths throne, you will be attacked ghost flame rancor coming from the body of Godwyn and Fia says “Godwyn, is that you dear?” So this seems the duskborn end is still his will in whatever way he is able to enact it. Tries to protect her at least.
It would be pretty interesting if there is an encounter with Godwyn the golden in the shadow realm. Maybe it'll be like that patches situation in the dark souls 3 the ring city DLC, where Godwyn's spirit has no memory of who he was in life and helps the character on their journey through the land of shadow.
Am I the only one that realizes that the dlc takes place in the past not a specific location. I truly enjoy all of these theories but you have to understand it's the past that can only reveal the whole story.
I don't believe it will be taking place in the past as in the past the land of shadow was not separated from the lands between. There's no way they'd dump us into the middle of that war. Also, a tweet from the Elden Ring account says, "The sordid sins of war still walk the Realm of Shadows, even as their victims search fruitlessly for recompense." They "still" walk. That doesn't make sense if we end up in the past.
I love the idea that ranni and he was destined to be consorts, cool idea to think about why she chose him. DLC I have no idea. didn't feel like Godwyn would be a fucus but if the focus is on breaking curses, then perhaps we could see something
Cool video! A couple points I think are worth discussing: 1. I do believe we’ll meet Godwyn one way or another in the DLC. We have to beat Radahn and resume the fate of the stars before entering the Land of Shadow, meaning there could be a possibility of an Eclipse happening. We have too little info to assume anything regarding what’s gonna be like, Messmer could not even be the biggest baddie in it for all know. From always surprises us. 2. Ranni killing Godwyn was very likely not personal. She’s collected, intelligent but most of all very rational. If she had left Godwyn alive, he’d most likely have taken the throne, maybe even would’ve figured everything out and gone after her. Nothing would’ve changed had she left Godwyn alive, it was just “business”
Godwyn's golden lightning is wielded by the lion dancer in shadow of the erdtree. So we shall see if something atleast is connected to godwyn in lands of shadows.
I have an alternative theory about the cocoon possibly holding Mesmer's body. What if it's still Miquila's body, but his curse was gone after he died. My only reasoning for this is Morgot. After he was defeated, his body was devoid of the omen horns he had previously. My theory is that the curses applied to the gods are not bound to the body, but to the soul. It's possible that when Miquila died, the absence of the curse caused his former body to grow back to the intended size.
I must disagree with the logic jump that Miquella's eternal youth would keep him from being a suitable vessel of the elden ring. Why not? Because he is small? he still was a force to be reckoned with and seemed to be a pretty solid candidate for godhood
"But this is the bitterest for mortal men: our Gods want to be overcome, since they require renewal. If men kill their princes, they do so because they cannot kill their Gods, and because they do not know that they should kill their Gods in themselves." - Carl Jung
We are going to fight Godwyn in the DLC in his PoD form, 100%. Miquella said he wanted to give Godwyn a proper death "O brother, lord brother, please die a true death," and cure Malenia of her rot. That's all we really know about Miquella's motives. All of Marika's children were cursed, so there's clearly something we don't know about Godwyn yet. Miquella was sympathetic to "hybrids" because Miquella is also hybrid. At the end of the DLC (and at the eclipse), be very ready to fight Miquella when he realizes the only way he can accomplish his goals is by becoming a god.
@@2JOfficial Renna isn't her sister either, she's most likely her grandmother. The term sister here is likely being used in the way a witch coven would refer to each other as sisters
I think Godwyn was god-skinned on the night of the black knifes. Ranni and Rykard, her fellow conspirator, have connections to the godskins and the godskin prayerbook and the godslayer's seal are both located in Stormveil. That mess under the castle could be the skin from Godwyn's face.
I think it's mentioned by a finger reader crone that Godwyn was a martyr. It makes me feel like he almost went to death willingly. I agree with the idea that Ranni was destined to be the next God and Godwyn the next elden lord, but I almost think Godwyn was in on it. The Golden Sun and the Dark Moon come together to form the Eclipse. And what does the rune of death look like? An Eclipse. I think it was a ritual they both willingly took part in to usurpe the golden order.
hmmm the ones with the caravans. They could be such as noble's in the past, sent as diplomats to deliver gifts to one place or another and such and it's why they are with such a large group etc. I don't know, just a random thought before bed xD
only in a piece of concept art which easily could have been produced before our rest points were finalized. Never trust concept art for confirmation of the final product.
Idk about this theory, there’s too many holes and missing information to really make this much of a conclusion especially considering how much we don’t actually know or anything alluding to it
I believe the relationship of the formless mother is more akin to that of the greater will and elden beast. I believe the formless mother uses the blood star as an envoy communicating on her behalf. I also believe the blood star is the cause of the bloodsoaked madness in the east. The formless mother sends her star to communicate with the cursed and those who only see darkness. But when blood is more powerful like the omen then she can physically impose her presence upon it.
I want to know more about how the teleporter found in Godwyn's arena. Why is it there? Who used it? We know Mogh used one to reach his domain from the haligteee, did someone use that one to reach leindell after placing Godwyn in the roots to taint the erdtree?
I’m certainly hoping the DLC gives us more info/backstory on Godwyn and Melina. Maybe the Gloam-Eyed Queen (whether or not that does tie in with Melina). We’ll definitely get a fair dose of Miquella and certainly flesh out more of Marika’s storyline.
I like your content on Elden Ring, because it really goes into the cultures and small folk of the lands between, while other Souls tubers focus way too much on the main story characters and lore.
