Funny that you thought the book was more ambiguous, because the director of the film actually talked to Shirley Jackson about how he saw the story as more of Eleanor losing her mind, and Shirley Jackson replied that while she thought was an interesting take on it, she actually meant the book to be more straightforward as an actual haunting
It's so funny because I saw the film poster for trap everywhere but I didn't see a single review of it or hear anyone's thoughts on it over on my end ;.; I love that your watching taste can bounce between the secret lives of orangutans to nitty gritty horror films. I for some reason didn't know the house of usher film was a thing and my mind only pulled up the flanagan adaption. I'm going to have to watch this film! It sounds good. I am going to see mamma mia in december and I am so looking forward to it!! I don't really like the film for the first one because the singing is awful in that film, but then I LOVE the second mamma mia film because it folds in pretty much everything that happens in the first one, and has better singing, and is enjoyable. I am so sorry you had a terrible audience watching experience though :( I hope I'll like the west end production of it more.
This absolutely terrified the shit out of me when I was maybe 13 or 14 watching it late night with my mom..I'm 46 now and this film still scares the shit out of me..absolutely fantastic directing..amazing cinematography and truly terrifying sound effects.
I remember LOVING the princess diaries books as a teen but nowadays when I read some of the originals they are full of such toxic concepts and behaviour lol. But it was a tiiiime. I'm glad you found the one you listened to at the start of the month good fun and drama though. They certainly were dramatic for no reason sksks. I vote for dnfng the instructions or at least stopping after finishing vol 1!! But don't read vol 2 let it goooo
The reason for the wrestling sequence with the smashing pumpkins is because Billy Corgan is really big into wrestling. He even attempted to bring back an old wrestling organization that died out in the late 80s. But as far as the band altogether, I'd have to say the member that I checked out the most was the drummer Jimmy. Especially when I was in the process of teaching myself to play the drums. Well Jimmy as well as Neil Peart (RIP). The drummer for the band Rush. As far as green day goes, their song Basket Case was one of the first tests I gave myself while teaching myself to play the drums. But sadly, their song Wake me up when September ends hits me pretty hard. Because both August and September are the hardest months of the year for me to make it through. Because my dad passed away on August 20 2015. Then as August ends and September begins, what's hard for me to get through that period of time is it was within that time period back in 2004 that the girl I was in a serious relationship with was pregnant with my kid, but sadly had a miscarriage and lost the pregnancy. And now here I am trying not to cry while talking about it 😔
I love how you said what a journey for watching a show over six months and for a show this long it would usually take me years hahaha. I am SO glad you loved the clone wars. It is honestly some of the really top tier star wars content we get aside from the OG films. Interesting to hear your take on the acolyte but I did mute through the spoilers bit in case I watch it! But I do remember seeing everyone fangirling of how hot one of the actors is and it honestly shook me seeing him on the street later by chance being swarmed by fans. Racism as well as sexism needs to be discussed more in the star wars fandom in general, I agree.
I remember watching big hero 6 in the cinema and loving it immediately! It was wholesome and heartwarming but yes, it is one of the sadder ones and it is so emotional right from the beginning? So ideal. I didn't like inside out or care about it much and everyone is watching 2 and saying it was amazing. But if I didn't like the first one would I even like the second one? Me and disney just have not been getting along well with their later films. I'm glad you had a decent time with maxxxine. I felt lukewarm about deadpool and wolverine. It was quite meme-y and also this felt like fanservice? And it felt very marvel as well -- like that third spiderman film. I have probably seen more xmen films than you actually, those are good superhero films! But I do think that this was a lot less gory than the first and second film, and less of an emotional impact than the first and second one. So it didn't quite compare for me... I am starting a new comment for the tv series!
Congrats on finishing a series!! It's a pity about the WWII memoir (and I didn't know about the whole Christmas/religion thing!!) but it's definitely a topic that burns you out. I've been waiting for my burnout on it to end for a few years now lol
I have never seen this film although I had heard of it but I think it was bigger in the US. The animation in it reminds me of the incredibles and monsters vs aliens?! The themes in this sound very good. And it sounds like the creativity liberties and changing things from the book was actually the right choice. Never cease to be impressed with how well you recognise voice actors!
It makes me SO happy to see a young person like yourself taking the time to view and appreciate these wonderful mastepieces made in a time when filmaking was still an art and not just a vehicle for selling merchandise. If not for people like you, these beautiful films could just fade from memory and be lost forever. Again, THANK YOU!
My maternal grandmother and I loved watching old school horror movies together. When I moved to a different state, I told my Grandma what I wanted for Christmas, and it was classic horror movies. At that time, I only had Creature from the Black Lagoon. So she got me Dracula, Wolf Man, The Mummy and Frankenstein. I also own Them !, and Bride of Frankenstein. I miss my Grandma. My late mother loved that I really enjoyed classic movies with her and my Grandma. I feel like people need to respect the classics, in order to appreciate the movies we have now.
Honestly it looked like you had such a fun time and got to see and do so much! I have only ever been to the paris disney and it was a good time, but I am sure the US one is on a whole other level. I am suuuuper eager to go to the star wars bit to be honest, and to do a build your own lightsaber whether the fancy version of the ceremony or the other more affordable one! The fireworks looked great too, I like all the lights at night. Fun vlog :)
A new favourite read of 2024 so far!! 😱😱 The whiplash of going from the best book of the year to the worst one of the year. I remember reading the swiss family robinson when I was a literal child, as in under 10 years old and being bored out of my MIND. It read as a diary of what they were doing and not a story and not enjoyable in any way?? It was so long ago but I still remember the distinct feeling of zoning out while reading for the first time ever lol. To sleep with angels sounds absolutely heartbreaking to read. I loved hearing your thoughts on the secret magdalene as you were reading!! I am so sure Ki Longfellow and Sierra Simone would be great friends. And I wish more christian media gave you those feelings :( because that is what it should be!!
Hello gorgeous!! I’ve never been to Disneyland, I’ve been to Disney World tons of times. I’ve always wondered which park is better. I still can’t get over how beautiful you are. Everything about you is perfect. I’ve been to California, but I didn’t have a chance to go to disneyland.
I hated the book for the call of the wild so much so I am never really going to watch the film. So it was good fun to be able to watch your reaction video instead hehe. She is SO gorgeous. Some of these black and white films had the most traditionally gorgeous actresses. It's interesting seeing it as a film because it is still about the dogs of course, but because it's a visual medium it is more about the people and the dogs are around. Whereas the book is really in the dogs mind and all about them. But obviously they had to switch the perspective and do more characterisation. In the wrap up you mention all of this.
Is it really exposition at the beginning? I guess in terms of logistics. But that’s so unnecessary that it doesn’t seem like a heavy handed attempt to convey information to the audience. Especially since it’s awkward and has those long pauses. As well as wrong information heh. It seems to be building mood and character. Whether it does it well is subjective of course lol
Eleonore was definitely an unreliable narrator in the book, but the book also makes it very clear that unusual and inexplicable events were happening in Hill House for decades. Long before Eleonore showed up.
Heres the thing I laugh at.. as a catholic. People shit on the theories, especially theories that oppose the bible. The bible is swore on in court. Yet if you put the bible in the dock, it wouldnt hold up to scrutiny as there virtually no evidence to support it, its a book or rumours, legends & mythologies that people SWEAR on as absolute truth. The realist overules the catholic in me everytime. The mythology fascinates me but as for truth? Im sure the bowles of the vatican would reveal secrets that would unravel more than just the bible..
PLEASE, you, and EVERYONE, if you haven't already, embrace the One True Only God YHWH Jehovah, Only One Jesus Christ His Only Begotten Son and Lord and Savior of our souls and the Only One Holy Spirit. God is good. God is love. Jesus is Lord. Jesus IS coming. Your soul depends on it! I have seen God act in my life. He saved my soul, changed my heart, changed my mind, helped people through me, took care of people in my life, people I hurt before I found God. God is the only reason I was able to reconcile with my dad before he died. God worked through Jesus Christ to save our souls. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved. Be baptized in The Holy Spirit, and if He wills, water as well. Repent of your sins, accept God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit into your heart, that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins. For God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, that all who believe on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and The Life. No one comes to the Father Jehovah God but through Him. Not long after I got saved I prayed to God for help understanding the Holy Bible, and that same day someone knocked on my door asking me if I wanted to understand the Bible. The Holy Bible says, "love thy enemy", "turn the other cheek", "If your enemy is hungry, feed him", "if he is thirsty, give him a drink", "pray for those who persecute you", "do not repay evil for evil". LORD willing, all humans may commit sin of almost every kind (gay, straight), and that's wrong, and all humans sin, as God tells us through the The Holy Bible, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." The Holy Bible also says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
Because of how much you didn't like tarot I managed to convince my friend to go see challengers with me in the cinema instead of tarot in the cinema, which I was MUCH happier with. So thank you for that. Not the hot animals trend 😭 I couldn't relate... The beach boys aren't a group I know a lot about beyond their music. I LOVED the play a streetcar named desire when I read it, and I loved it when I saw it in theatre. I should try and watch the film at some point.
Look at you burning through all these manga series!! The promised neverland is on my list of manga to read and I'm all for hearing about the fact that it will break my heart. I can survive the exposition in exchange for heartbreak and good artwork. RELIGIOUS THEMES DID YOU SAY?! I wouldn't have expected for the book Chicago to hit so hard but I understand from the way you describe how it resonates with you in particular as well. Trust me when I am reading this steamy genre I am only reading ✨quality✨ And I agree, I'm glad that she did so well with the themes in this one and dealt with the grief and anger and that is why it is my fave of the series I think. Also because of Sean's character development across the whole book and how he really learns from Zenny.
Thank you for posting this without spoilers! we picked this up at our library and had a feeling some things were missing.... They were!! The entire book and poster was taken. Not sure how many letters there are but there were left only about 8.
The building used in the film is now a hotel. Named the Ettington Park Hotel, it's located in England, specifically in the Warwickshire village of Ettington. The film's shots of the grounds and house exteriors were filmed there, so technically, you CAN stay in a haunted house. ;)
It was interesting hearing all your thoughts on the death note short stories! I don't think these are ones I feel like I need to read? And I am probably going to stick to the main series. So this was a nice run down to have hehe.
