Very cool... had an F14 with 80hp Renault (crap motor)... cool little.boat. Then had an 18 2 plus 3 with 350 Magnum it did 69. No boat holds value better than the classic Donzi. My favorite is 18 Corsican but only 53 were ever made.
I live in Augusta GA. And I have heard folks say he ran that same boat in the savannah river in the low 150s I did not see it but a few folks that did and they not known to lie said he did it twice on one Sunday afternoon

he did go 150 in this video just they didnt record it I know the guy who bought Michael's boat and he told me at 150 the back end started to come around and Michael never drove the boat again and I dont blame him
No. Its not. We run a Bernico 21 with a 1350 Mercruiser racing package. In race trim and a long prop we can do 152 with two skiers out the back. One early morining we were seeing 7500rpm which would have been faster. But our boat cost $270,000. You'd expect that.
I remember back in the late 90s early 2000s my grandmas lake was full of hydrostreams and river racers. I won't ever forget the sound of a Mercury 2.5. It's a damn shame cause I don't see them anymore. It's like they went extinct. How much would a river racer like that cost?
The guy that flipped is damn lucky to have survived! They do make a brake-away capsule thats proven in drag boat racing(220 plus mph). It does add weight but improves aerodynamics that can add 5 to 10mph on topspeed.
I remember seeing this many years ago.. Lucky to have landed upright... Tunnels are meant to fly flat, not like this.... He was just showing off and got bit... Like Dirty Harry said "a mans got to know his limitations".
@tj387mirage - you are absolutely right mirage. that is not me in the video; i run an stv/260 and have seen too many people get wet over the years. things do happen fast, it is definitely not the sport for acting like a knucklehead.
@heggernes32 the boat is a chip boat specially built by Mr. Lampkin when he owned STV for Mike Dixon. I believe high 400's to low 500's weight w/o rigging. I dont know his exact rpms, but he was concerned it would not turn over 9k on the 135mph pass and said it was set up to turn around 9700 rpms. Hope this helps.
This very event was on The Discovery Channel one night. They Interviewed the guy that blew over. There's not a whole lot of debating that. And yes that boat really can go 140+. Just saw that comment below that pretty much says the same exact thing.
