Old man use to sail on them weekly running line haul, back then they sailed on 8-9m swells.. worse sail he'd been on but back then they just did it. They had to wait 5 hours out the Wellington heads for the weather to calm down to get through the breaks to Wellington
Fantastic to see these machines alive and steaming ( unlike in the UK where some locos will NEVER see the light of day again, stuck in a museum FOREVER!!!!!!!! ) The old CH CH railway station is long gone, a newer one is there now.
The amazing Scottish ex- calmac Ferry "The Suilven"! An amazing faithful old girl, who rode the waves so well. Sad that she sunk in a Fiji bay on a calm day! Old girl just had had enough, and gave up!

Well taken, Great footage!!! Are you the owner of this footage? Is it possible for me to use and upload this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, inland barge ships, navy, etc. Of course full credit and a link to your RU-vid page will be given when I upload. If you want to talk this through via e-mail, that's also possible. My email is on my youtube page. I'm looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Thanks!
I am having the same problem when I put the power to it run a little The wheels did not move but the motor was runni . Now no power at all. I'm not too sure what to do Would appreciate any help and telling me how to Clean it and service it I do not have a machine to re-mag it
An era of steam power on display as it was way back in the day. A moving, breathing symbol of the industrial revolution. You had to be there to know it and feel it!
Only have just found this video, funny how at times RU-vid just throws up older videos, however, this was rivetting, as soon as i heard those 567's idling, it was instant viewing to the end, fantastic video, love it.
Do you have an ambulance with little first responders? A tiny damage assessor with little note board and measuring tape? Some mini GeoNet employees checking out their seismograph (through an office window)? Lots of little peeps on cellphones texting their rellies? A dog running around in circles going ape sh#t ? Quake aftermath miniaturists- Get to work NOW! When, ( not if ) the big model railway disaster of the century comes, it'll be far more convincing! 😁😏
Bitch of a boat , but it lasted a log time, Terrible rolling motion that went , I can see the sea , I can see the sea, i can see the sea, I can see land i can see land , i can see the sky, I can see the sky, i can see the sky, as well as up up up , down down down down are we sinking ?, up up up up . It was built in the year I was born and six years later it nearly killed me, We were crossing late from Stornoway to Ullapool , mum was from Lewis summers were spent there and weddings were common as i, been the youngest in a large family and had lots of Aunts and Uncles and therefore cousins getting married , one visit the engines broken down, when were they not?, all the cars were on board, so rather than unload they repaired one and made the sailing on one, instead of 1pm we left at 11pm , they forced her back to Ullapool for the engineers to meet her in Ullapool with parts and the massive backlog that was now building in Ullapool, the night was rough and had a good swell and me been small, the out side attracted me , as I was coming down the steps from the upper deck to the passenger facilities deck i was at the 3 step from bottom they were steep steps and got distracted stopped to look and lean out , the bugger rolled hit a wave and jolted , i went over the side banister as then, there were no mesh protection grids on the outside of the stairs , two crew members standing at the banister having a fag break one grabbed my coat and saved me going over board in to the heavy swell of a dark night , there was no way I would have been found. I still have the nightmare of looking straight down at white foam rolling out over black waves and much shouting going on, as i was heaved back over the banister, they were big strong men and only because of that am i alive. the next year all the side bannisters had new steel grid meshing running from the bannister to the upper deck so you couldn't be flipped off in to the sea in rough weather or heavy swell such was the motion, in the common heavy Minch swell ,of that ship.
