Interesting I was the appointed guardian for my father in law when he was admitted to a nursing home a placement that I fought for some time as to keep him in his own home was his wish.Long story short he trusted me more than the family members that wanted the ACAT team to basically schedule him.Great to see changes to the legislation as I have seen the system from the inside and the abuses that can be committed by so called caring family members needless to say I protected his assets and made sure the provisions of his will where adhered to as his advocate and legal guardian.May I add I also spend many years in aged care and saw what actually happens within that situation up to and including residents that had few visitors then the flood gates opened when they where on their last to say the least it disgusted me,I have to this day continued my advocacy tendencies for those that cannot understand or are incapable through medical or other reasons capable of understanding or have issues with what I may if you don't mind call the system.
