FANTASTIC! ❤️ *So* inspiring for a newbie at both guitar and ukulele! (Even though I’ll likely never reach this level, just starting to learn at age 61!) 😂. Fun trying anyway! 😎💕
Since this pedal is passive I’m assuming there is the normal tone suck associated with any passive volume pedal. Do you know if it is compatible with the Vertex Boost via TRS expression cable? I see you touch on this in the video but asking about the Vertex in particular. Thanks.
I've got a light guage universal fit thumb-pick, but it is too tight around the thumb. I've tried to make the clip looser using this hot water method, but it won't budge! It just bends back to the original size. I use boiling water, straight from the kettle. Do you make thumb-picks with a looser fit?
It's funny this video is exactly what I was looking for! I am a baritone Uke guy who is now getting his feet wet in the acoustic guitar world. My favorite guitarist in the world is Justin Johnson as everything he plays speaks to me, and his Rock, Blues style is exactly what I wish I could play and how I would like to play it. No other guitarist out there plays the guitar in a way I am excited about. I am always blown away by Justin Johnson's incredible fingerpicking skills and the amazing sound he gets out of his guitars. I wanted to know which brand of thumb picks he uses, and after finding this video I now know. I placed an order for 2 of the light, regular tension Black Mountain picks, and 1 of the medium, regular tension Black Mountain picks.
Hi David! The spring makes the picks universal fit and very comfortable for thumb sizes medium to XL. If you have a smaller thumb or want a really tight fit I would recommend getting the picks with extra tight spring tension. Hope this helps! Thank you! Cheers, Cole
I really would love one of these, but I'm curious what the sizes of the slides are. I have a 13 ring size and I would like to know which size slide ring to get.
I remember seeing The Edge talk about how he chopped a slide down to a ring years back for the same purpose to add subtle slide bits or go back and forth, slide a couple strings.
Though the Edge is unique. He can actually play, a lot of people think he can't. He's a 3rd kind of player that is often minimalistic and atmospheric aimed just at the song. He was a reaction to the shredtastic time period. He also spends way too much time crafting exactly his specific sounds for a situation which might just be a tinkling then a repeated 3 note riff. Tons of people find them meh. I always loved some very early U2, October etc. and a few isolated tracks, like Van Diemens Land.
It's amazing for bass guitar! Check out this demo by Paul De Bello. Thank you! Cheers, Cole ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LQRLoxNBkO0.html
Just ordered one of these on the strength of your demo. I use a normal 'hinged' vol. pedal and hate the feel of it esp. for fast effects, so this roller type should be perfect. Thanks for your review.
It's very robust!! The potentiometer is rated at 7 million cycles and the wheel is attached to the shaft of the pot with a spring which takes the entire load off of the potentiometer shaft. Hope this information helps! Cheers, Cole
If the guitar volume and tone controls are set to the max, will lowering the volume on the pedal affect the treble/tone or does it act like a type of treble bleed?
It doesn't effect the treble very much. I've had a lot of positive feedback in this regard, and it isn't colouring the tone. Hope this helps! CHeers, Cole
@@blackmountainpicks523 looks like they are super popular. I went onto your site to buy one but there's no stock. I use and love your pics and also have your slide ring. I hope to add that pedal to my black mountain collection 👍
Hi Justin, enjoyed your demo video. What do you think of the new model which is a full circle? Does it apply as much weight and pressure on the strings as the one you are using in this video? Appreciate your response.
6.5 Inches Long, 3 3/8ths Wide, and 2.75 Inches tall. It's the same size as a regular guitar pedal on your pedal board, and about half the length of a standard volume pedal. It really helps with your pedal board real estate if this is an issue! Plus, after a bit of practice, you can roll the wheel really fast which opens up a new world of polyrhythmic volume expression! Hope this helps!
This is a great demo, Zack. BTW, I love your playing. It's one thing to have the technique to play fast, but more importantly is choosing something interesting to play -- and not overdoing the fast thing! Congratulations, and best wishes.
I like it. I don't buy many gadgets any more, but I'm probably going to get this for those rare instances where it would be perfect. I think I would personally like this better than the hinged-style. BUT: WHY only use this approach for volume control? Why not be able to use it as a wah or direct-control phaser, etc., etc., RIGHT? Imagine more than one with each one dedicated to a parameter like volume or EQ, etc., and you could even control two at a time if you got good at it, and believe me, some folks will. BY THE WAY this looks like a SIT-DOWN pedal to me; I always site to play so that's fine with me! 😃Food for thought guys........
This is something to be checked out personally - I like the idea very much, but I am not sure if there wouldn't be more weight put on the other knee, which my knees are not really fond of. In any case, big shout out to Zack for the incredible playing and the great job producing this video!
Thanks for your comment!! The pedal is built like a tank and you can put the entire weight of your body on the wheel and balance your body the same as a standard volume pedal. Hope this helps!
do you like any of Danny Gatton's work? he holds his pick, nuts . . also wanted to ask about your guitar controls layout? 3 knobs? then the B string saddle? some kinda new tuning?
