I grew up in Hinckley in the 70's, always found ironic that his day jab was selling Renaults! He would occasionally have a works Escort tucked a way in the workshop rubbing shoulders with Renault 4's etc.
I've never seen this video before. It is so nostalgia. Not only of beeing story of great Roger Clark, but it is full of era's other great rallydrivers.
Ford then with the Escort RS1800..were the most Successful and Well Managed Rally team of all time, the quality of Drivers on there Books were unbelievable ...👑👏👏
Great days. Was out spectating on this, lots of different cars, typical long RAC. It's a bit sobering to see how many great names in the rally have now passed away, the latest being Hannu, but how great it was to see so many British divers fighting for top positions. I suppose I've been spoilt watching rallying in the 70s, 80, and 90s. My favourite cars. The Escort, Audi Quattro and Subaru impreza from those different eras.
Watching this having just heard Hannu passed away last Friday. this rally probably the last time someone led an event by 7 minutes.... What a driver, and such a nice man. R.I.P.

Well done, WRC. I think personality wise, this was my favorite rally team of all time. What a character Hirvonen is and were it not for Loeb, would have the championships to go with his easy going style. And Latvala was and is my favorite to watch drive. He has a bit of McRae in him, no?
Allen sugar all so said when the deal was done to take Top fight Football a way from the BBC it was done on with out to many people knowing about it may be a hand full of games should go back to the BBC just because not every can have sky or b t sport but there is radio but then it all comes down to pounds and pence and the way you talk to people ? Money from every in sport as gone to making places better and so on I may be wrong but no body is perfect. I think the man all so changed the Amstrad pc name to Hewitt Packard bell I may be wrong so don't take my word for it ?
My favourite rally driver from the world rally championship. I've been spectating on rallies now since the late 60s right through the GRP4, GRP B and GRP A day's, my favourite cars were always the Ford escorts, Audi Quattros and the classic shape subaru Impreza's. And my favourite drivers were Russel Brooks from here in Britain, Ari Vatenen, Richard burns and Colin Macrea and now its Jari. I go watch more historic rallying these days as I like the old stuff better, but when given the chance I get out on the Rally GB to watch a stage or two.
You also gave the Irish Boys something to aim for, even though Stuart Turner didn't particularly like the Irish, a brilliant Billy Coleman rose to the task! Roger was fantastic, with a lovely style! He will never be forgotten!
