I appreciate the great video! I'm about to replace my master/slave/line with limited room. Just to confirm - you can pull the master off the booster and disconnect the pedal line from inside the bay? No need to get up under the dash?
Thanks for this video! I’m struggling right now. I loosened the brake booster and took off the brake m/c. I’m going to give that a shot. Hammering is my last resort lol
AYE! Always a good day when Nismology drops a new video. Looks like the GTR will be sitting on my end brotha. Me and the wife are moving to PR, so the FD and the R will be sitting until I can ship them down. Deferred does not mean denied. They will rise again and we'll be able to enjoy them in the west indies. Hope all is well! Peace brotha!
So i just installed the PRP race series trigger kit. Got it to start and run after setting timing with light. What does your trigger settings look like? I see my trigger home value around 40-50 %
Also! Change your gear oil because I can almost taste the dog teeth shrapnel through that third gear bounce you did from idle to 2500rpm lol. Good luck with your learning curve! Dog boxes are so much fun and the best transmissions to drive once you get familiar with how to drive them right 👏🏼
Alsooooo….when you were downshifting into second, you didn’t even attempt to rev-match the speed of the counter shaft 😂 remember, dog boxes don’t have synchros, so it won’t speed up the input shaft under shifting loads that are normally introduced during shifting like on standard synchromesh manual transmissions. At least double clutch under downshifts when normally driving, or throttle blip when you’re in the high gear to unload the dogs then swipe it quickly to the next lower gear. Your blips and downshifts should be the same motion. I hope this helps 😊
The slower you drive, the slower you shift! But it has to be deliberate and positive; doesn’t necessarily have to be fast and hard every single time, but it HAS to be DELIBERATE. I have this same dog engagement set from Speedtek. Also, your downshifts has to incorporate throttle blips and very fast and, again, deliberate movements.
Down shift must happen faster than up shift. slam it son! your gears are still helical for forward engagement. Also you can use the clutch when down shifting for rev match but not necessary for drag.
Do no slam it 😂 being deliberate and direct while blipping the throttle during downshifts is the formula for unloading the dogs and matching the speed of the output shaft to the counter shaft. If you’re driving or shifting slower, you should be double clutching. When he was also in neutral and threw it into second, he should have free revved it to match the speed of second gear to match the speed of the counter shaft. If you don’t do that, you can basically destroy or incur damage on the dogs between the second gear rings. So be careful 😅
@@4444johnnyboy4444 ok noted!!!!! I appreciate your response and sounds pretty accurate. So I should double clutch it to make it a bit more smooth when down shifting, correct?
What dwell times are you running? I installed the coils and mine sounds like a Camaro. I put in the prp recommended times and other times I found on forums but no use
How much power does your GTR make to the wheels? I was thinking of going dog box for mine, but have decided on a PPG 5 speed speed synchro gear set to replace my broken OS Giken 2nd gear. I guess a bit more practise is needed for you to get comfortable with the dog box. Hopefully the grinding gear changes haven't damaged the teeth. Maybe do a fluid change and check for particles if you're worried. Good luck with it mate, it is a beautiful car.
