Very good video. I completely agree. We have a loneliness epidemic going on for sure. Concerning addictions, I believe that lack of purpose, responsibility and direction in life can for sure contribute along with loneliness. I also think that the amount of internet connection that is available to us is a huge cause. The system is set up to screw us, if you ask me.
I'm waiting for my Christian friends to say "what about Jesus?"😄 To which my response would be that I believe we ultimately find purpose and direction by living our lives as Christians. But I also believe that as Christians we should be doing much better at supporting one another. In regard to the system screwing us, you are on point. I'm reading a book called Stolen Focus, which talks about how we are addicted to various apps and technologies, which keep us from having real/deep relationships with fellow human beings.
I firmly believe that we are created for face to face relationships. This should be our primary way of communicating with those closest to us. Technology is great to connect when we are apart, or with people who we are not very close with, but unfortunately technology has replaced face to face conversations, leaving people feeling empty. Also, people are very scared to be real with one another. Tim made a comment on FB about having someone "safe" to talk to, which is right on the money. Too many people have been vulnerable with someone and gotten burnt as a result. We need to do better, but also we need to be willing to be real with one another.
