Hey Yall! 👋🏾I’m Michael, RDH, BSDH🦷❤️ I’m a new grad navigating soooo many intersections of life and lucky you to have a front row seat to this circus😂 Come one come all🎪
@@saidarashid8493 Yes you can! I’ve met a few RDH who were Dentist back home. I also have come across a few of them on RU-vid and they will have some valuable information for you if that’s the path you’re thinking of taking☺️
@@saidarashid8493 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jBSymBE-G6Y.htmlsi=-zCmAUJSBvTtWDr3 I came across this video yesterday, hope it helps!
happy birthday friend!! you cracked me up giving the patients a head turning tutorial 😂 have you ever had it when you say turn to the right and they literally tilt the top of their head to the right like NO not tilt your head TURN your entire neck!!!!
Thank you love💕 LMAOOO Friend! When they literally tilt their head like that I’m like “babe I said turn not tilt”😂 Like why do they do that?! This is so funny because you have to be a hygienist to understand how frustrating it is💀
Thank you for that, seriously 😩 I truly hope so! I know what it’s like to navigate this hygiene world without a lot of guidance and I really would love to help people have an even better experience than I did☺️
Friend! You know what’s crazy? I literally recorded that video months ago and completely forgot to post it and accidentally deleted it🙃 BUT once I get back to Georgia I will definitely make one for you❤️
Congratulations! I’m so happy for you! School might be a little crazy BUT it’s so worth it! ☺️ Definitely reach out with any questions or for encouragement and keep us updated on how it’s going!
It’s so easy to run over time , there’s literally never enough time. I’ll be with one pt worried about getting to the next one . Trust me it gets better the day
When I tell you it stresssses me out to infinity and beyond. There is a hygienist I work with who gets appointments done in like 35-45min while I’m in there still taking bite wings💀 It actually is starting to get better thankfully, I was scared for a minute there😂
Even though the job on base pays $51,000 a year. I would take it to be honest. It's full-time plus you said you wont have a problem getting to work. The money will come. Then working for the Government they match your retirement dollar for dollar. So thats something to consider. Also you can do the job until you find something better.
@@sabrinawilliams1585 Exactly! Like I get it, it is a government job but how do you expect people to want to work for the government if y’all aren’t paying even close to the average?! I’m going to request a pay adjustment, but I don’t really see myself working there with such low pay. Especially when I’m gaining the same amount of money in a part-time position 🙄
@@RDHMichael 🎯 Don’t let them play you! It’s jobs that are willing to pay the price especially nowadays with the NEED of hygienist! You are a PROVIDER and should be paid as such ♥️
@@Ilovemycomputer2013 lmaooo😂 that is exactly how I felt 💀 but I should’ve explained that they were just handing out desserts at this event. I wanted to try the bbq and asked where the brick and mortar was and I’m assuming they just didn’t hear my question correctly.
@RDHMichael Country Barbecue they have three locations. One is on Auburn Ave next to CVS. Another one is downtown on Broadway by The Current apartment. Then another one off Veterans Pkwy close to wing stop.
This really helped me so much. I’m currently taking Prerequisites for the dental hygiene program. Thank you for being so honest, kind, and open. You’ll definitely be a dentist soon enough! ❤
My friends, my friends better than your friendss!!! I know you were going through it, but it was all worth it!! 🫶🏾🫶🏾I loved the chiropractor but they say you gotta keep going 😩
Very much that! Baby I was going through it neck was stiff as hell for days and that's scary when you work in dental hygiene I was like my career is over😢 and I just got started. But I'm great now and I invested in a massage gun😉
@RDHMichael You Welcome Dr. Caves office is right off Bradley Park Drive before you get to the River Rd round a bout. I live in the City. I seen on a previous video you moved here. We can have a meet and greet at a local park.
There isn't a program you need to go through in order to complete your prerequisites. You just need to take the required courses which you should be able to find at a community college. Now you should be able to find these courses on your program website ❤ Hope this helps!
The last question about making mistakes my problems is I can't remember any because I'm so anxious about making mistakes I do everything in my power to not make any lol.
Even if its something little like grabbing a hot pan on accident or losing a game of monopoly, i'm sure you can find a way to answer the question and make that real world connection😊
I immediately knew what city you moved to in Georgia. When I saw zip lining in the captions. I said to myself I know its let me keep watching. Then I saw the River. I said yep it is. So Welcome to my Hometown born and raised. How you like it so far? How's everything? Since I see you didn't say the City. I'll wait until you say it. To those reading this. Here's your homework assignment. We are the second or third largest city in Georgia.
Michael!!! So glad to see you are doing well! I miss seeing you guys at school :( What is the name of the office that you like working at? The one next to the donut shop... I'm curious where it is located. Good luck in GA! Excited to keep following your journey! <3
I miss y'all too! I hope summer clinic & dental materials went well & that you're enjoying your time off! The office was located in Summer Creek/Fall Creek area dm for the exact name and location😊You're Officially a DH2, only a year left and trust me it goes by so fast!
Love the positive attitude!!! I’ve been practicing for a minute and I need to get back to that mind set! Sad to see you go, wish we would’ve crossed paths. enjoy your new venture!
@@iamkenyaking Thank you! Same, where have you been hiding😩?! I could really use someone with more experience for some tips, to get drinks and just to kick it with since you know what its like being an RDH. I will def be back home so we should keep in contact😊
yayy im so happy you’re coming to atl hopefully i run into you! you’ll love it here! im ngl you aren’t getting away from that traffic though 😂 and ALWAYS lock your car and never ever leave anything in it boo not even shoes.
@@NyaTorri LMAOOO oh lawd ATL is giving white refrigerator when you say all that 🤣 Im actually not going to be living in ATL ill be in Columbus which I hear is pretty similar🙃
I am so very proud of you! I saw how you struggled and struggled and you know what! You become a better person. You grown!! Yess!!! I can't wait to go into this journey. I am older so its harder for me to get into but Im working on something so I can apply. I hope I get part time, I can't do full time xD my seasonal allergies dont allow me. xD lol But you go!!! keep on going!! YESS!!!
Why are you moving to Georgia? Also there’s actually another gay, black, male hygienist on RU-vid who is from Georgia. He mentioned you in his last vlog and said he hopes you see it so y’all can be friends. His name is Dennis Walker. He said “there’s a gay black hygienist who is moving to Georgia but I can’t remember his name” and I knew he meant you lmao
LMAO OMG thanks for letting me know! I love Dennis i've been following him since he was in hygiene school! I will def have to link up with him after I get settled down. Im moving to be with my partner 😃
your vlog came right on time!!! so happy for you that you're working FULL TIME and it's getting better and better. pleeeease talk to us about the process of getting your GA license 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Congrats on finishing DH school. I been through 4 semesters and needed 1 more semesters to go. I did not finish and that was in 2017. I need to try and return at another college; however, ALL of my pre-req.' s are soooo old. I watched ALL of your videos and flash backs occurred. But, we had a quiz and patient clinic each day for all of the semesters. I have been assisting for far too long and it sucks BIG time. Again, congrats congrats congrats. Are hygienist able to administer anesthesia in TX? And yes, working in an ALL melanated practice is phenomenal.
Thank you so much😊 A quiz and patient everyday!? Im sure yall waited at least a semester to start seeing real patient right? Honestly that program sounds hard and I probably wouldn't have finished either lmao. BUT its never too late to start over. You already know what it takes to get in! We have gotten the legal ball rolling on infiltration here in Tx so we will be able to do local very soon. We are just waiting for the suits and the state to create a general curriculum about the rules and regulations of it.
@@RDHMichael Yes, a quiz and patient everyday. The first semester we began seeing patients the second week of school, and competencies began about 2 weeks afterwards. Yes, it was beyond brutal and it never got easier. However, I soooo enjoyed meeting the many many many injection and laser requirements. We began with 20 but only 16 survived....go them 😊. It took me almost 5 years to complete my pre-req.'s. I concur, it definitely is never too late to try again. However, the state that I currently reside, is asking for me to retake 8 of my pre-req.'s.(which are over 10 years old). Again, congrats and enjoy enjoy enjoy.
New grad hygienist here also! Is not being familiar with certain softwares intimidating? How do you feel about not knowing where supplies are? Asking assistants questions?
Congratulations on graduating! Honestly I always get a little nervous going into a new office. But now I make sure when I come in and they give me a run down of the office and system, I write down the most important stuff on a sticky note I can refer to in order to save myself time from asking questions. If it's not on my sheet I don't mind asking anymore because its either I ask or I look incompetent looking around or trying to figure it out myself. The software gets easier for sure. Look up some youtube videos on the software as well that can really help! Also you're not going to remember everything so they expect you to ask some questions😃
Definitely got to just let patients like that not bother you or phase you . Some people are just hard to please or just difficult in general. Keep ya head up 💪🏾
THANK YOU FOR VLOGGING FOR US!!! and hey, better to find out temping isn't your vibe vs the other way around and you're stuck in an office possibly on a contract :O
Of course friend!😃Exactly, I'm only temping because I am moving soon but I'm sure once I just have more clinical hours under my belt, temping would be really easy and worth it since I can set my own rate😊
@@RDHMichael Yeah I'm not under any illusions that temping directly after graduation is gonna be the easy route, or simple route, but i think it might be best for me personally. I'm so glad I get to see you live it irl because it's easy to forget the reality of it. Being new and feeling maybe not good enough and then getting those 3 stars or whatever....It's going to be HARD. But you can do it if you wanna!! You are so capable!
