I have one of these and I love it. Use it for 'cross racing but it makes a great trainer/all-arounder. Have GP5000STR tires mounted on a set of Zipp353's and Schwalbe RS' 40c on DT240/Reserve wheels. My other bikes haven't been getting alot of use since I bought this one. Awesome vid!!!
Hi Chris, you mention that you use 54x38 Shimano Chainring. What brand and model do you use for the inner ring? I cannot find the 38t version and that is exactly the combination I want to test since now I have 52x36. Many thanks.
@ChrisHallRides thanks Chris. Not able to find that option just the 36 or 40t. Is it maybe a version for other groupset different to Ultegra 8200 or DA 9200?
Love this bike. Got mine a couple of weeks ago and I’m so glad I invested in one. What aero bottle is being used on the frame? Looks like a decent volume but haven’t seen one like that before.
@chrishallrides Chris you said you used the wolf tooth road link but looking at what you used in the video, setting up larger cassette on my daughters bike with mechanical 2x GRX810 but if I look at wolf tooth products it looks like you use “direct road link” rather than the “road link”, any chance you can confirm (and also tell me if you had issues post vid) ta
Love your Enve 4.5’s. Were they custom with the Chris Kings? On enve website I only see them with the innerdrive hub? I race road and crits. So most of it is flat and rolling. Tempted to go with the 6.7s but everywhere I see it’s 4.5 as peoples preferred choice. Is there a reason behind this? The wider rim width? I have systemsix and I have foundation 65s already, but they come in 200g heavier. Any view points, experience would be great?
Rider of 25 yrs… so developed seat. This tells you that the saddle choice after 10,000 miles differs from a rider in their 4th yr on the bike. I was shocked to learn that padding moves underneath you. A switch to a carbon SLR saddle with zero padding, no leather cover was a game changer. Use the padding in your bike short, not the saddle. Adjust to your bike fit for max. leg power extension. the reduction of padding enables the hip to drop and rotate freely.
I definitely couldn’t ever ride a solid carbon saddle. I’ve tested it amongst many options. Everyone is individual so I’m glad you’ve found something that works for you
Hi Chris, Loved the video, very informative even though time trialing is not my thing. I did notice something that maybe you can check with your bike fitter. I noticed a possible hip impingement on your right side during the wind tunnel segments. Maybe a 160 crank may be in your future? I mean no disrespect but your hips didn't look happy in the wind tunnel. Cheers sir, keep up the good work! 😊
thank you for the video Chris,, That bike looks amazing .. love the way they integrated the brake calipers like that. Looks like it could be the future way all bikes will go . Argon 18 leading the way..
Ohh Chris..... such a shame. Put this bad luck behind you and reset for Badlands. Could be a good thing - going into that rested and ready to go. Certainly seems to be a lot of it about again. Recently had a bout of it 17 days ago and stayed positive for 9 days. I fly to the Pyrenees tomorrow for a week of gravel riding in the Argeles valley - slight modification of expectations required. Hoping i can still get up to Pic du Midi which is the big goal.
Yeah you're right the theory is I should be feeling good for Badlands but my bigger aim is a race called The Goats in portugal in October. I hope you are recovering well. Enjoy the riding in the Pyrenees!
Ugh, gutted for you man. Best of luck with your recovery! On an unrelated note, I took delivery of a blue Krypton today, inspired to check em out due to your vids! Love it.
@@ChrisHallRides yeah. I’ve had to scrap pretty most of my 2024 racing plans due to injury. However, ultra cycling races do prepare us for when things don’t go according to plan
Went 1x for the cheaper power meters, but the 40 tooth default had me spinning out all the time. Just bumped it to 42 to see if it’s what I hope before jumping somewhere silly like 50 (where I always was in 3x)
I feel your pain brother, I'm just getting over covid after nearly 3 weeks. Should have gone on a club cycling trip to the Peaks 2 weeks ago. Couldn't go. Haven't looked at a bike in that time. Not looking forward to having to rebuild all my conditioning again...
Evening Chris, health first, always......events can wait for another time. I do sympathise as I'm too recovering from Covid & sickness......2 weeks in I'm just about getting there. Sorry, I've missed your videos here and on cade media. Have a good weekend, Chris 👍
Yeah it’s pretty shit but it is what it is. Always next year! I was hoping to go well and I could probably survive but it would affect my confidence so feels a better decision to pull out and go again next year. Covid is still very much around, still takes a lot out of your body which people forget. Anyway I’m sure they can if you reach out and ask
I use the same Schwalbe Overland tyre for the Dirty Reiver 200km and the Frontier 300 this year. Great tyre rolloing on the road and grippy on the gravel. Plus no punctures 👌
SILCA has a YT video ("Answered: Your Top 5 Selected Tubeless Tire Fail Questions") where they talk about prepping & maintaining your _valve cores_ so they do not become clogged.
@@malcontent_1 Well, those are wet chain lubes, more or less. I was trying to avoid being overly pedantic, though I suppose the tungsten disulfide may be a necessary ingredient. 🤷♂️
Totally agree with "comfort is fast" but, robust is also fast, for example if your tires are "racy" but prone to punctures you need to add in the time for flat repairs to your riding time.
Bike looks good with the black side wall too👍 I did laugh out load with the muc off stand shining brightly, probably wondering to itself if it was getting a mention in the roll call of good sealant👍
@@smoore5540 😂 personally I don’t like the muc off sealant. Each to their own and I know they offer a lot of support for bike shops but they’re not for me
@@ChrisHallRides aye, I've used it in the past and the peatys one with the bits in with no issues, but I can see how you need something you can trust if out in thd middle of no ware on one of your adventures 👍🚴♀️🏴
Big fan of Silca sealant. It cleans out nicely too when you want to replace your sealant after a year or so. Plus the replenisher does go through the valve using the little replenisher bottle (or perhaps even a syringe, I imagine)
The silca sealant is spectacular! I just got my first puncture I needed to plug after 9 months & 3012 miles with 30mm gp5000 str's! Usually I hear a noise & find a little spray on my frame after I get home!
you have to pour the sealant in when you use Silca sealant. So probably worth listening to that advice: silca.cc/blogs/silca/tubeless-sealant-installation
@@leestephenson4083 because it causes valve stem issues that I don't need. I haven't had to fix a roadside flat since 2021 with orange seal, and it requires less maintenance. Trust me if I was getting flats that orange seal couldn't manage I would switch but for me I just don't need it
Noticing that red tape is not pink lettered tape i wonder what tape that is? Its opaque, witch i hear that is better than clear and also way better than tape with branding printed on it.
@@ChrisHallRides Thank you. Enve makes great stuff. I have a bunch of parts from them I am really happy with. They are also great to deal with if the amazing parts ever fail. 🙌
Thanks Chris , and Jimmy...I brought my new tires to my LBS to install , using this sealant .I told them about the no syringe , through the valve ....and they did it anyway .Ruined my valves , I am about to replace everything , months later....yeah ,I'll do it myself from now on !!
