Sadly, never. I made this a million years ago when I was a video editor, using VHS tapes, and had access to a library of TV broadcast going back a month. Life has moved on dramatically since then ! Thanks for liking this old piece of madness
Thanks for watching, and well done for surviving! It's SO LONG AGO that I made this hellish compilation, so it's nice that people are still experiencing it, and, in some bizarre way, enjoying it (?)
That first one was Anthony Newley, he was a huge star of screen and stage, a really fabulous singer who had his own style, Bowie even copied him in his early career. The rest are indeed Hell lol
I made these edits over 20 years ago, when I worked in a media monitoring company, and we recorded TV output 24/7, and scanned shows for a variety of content. My edit suite department often discovered little moments that really grated and annoyed....and amused. Making these repetitive montages was like some sort of exorcism ! Glad you like !
Neil Peel. Yes, I stayed there for two family summer holidays when I was about 8 or 9, and posted this for my two sisters, as a kind of memory lane. We loved it there a lot.
Ah great stuff! For the love of memories! Glad you found it! I saw you years back in HW at one of your gigs! I was in a rock band at the time and we were checking out the rival talents in the area!
Neil Peel...Oh really. Interesting. And so long ago. I didn't get on very well with the Wycombe scene. Did better everywhere else! What band were you in? Maybe I'll remember...
I used to see you listed in the Bucks papers a lot however! We were called the Storm, but I also played with Passion Tide, Red House. Nothing major on the gig front though!
Neil Peel. Yes, did lots of gigs in HW, for the faithful few. I remember all the bands you mention. And I think I also remember you. You play guitar? I think Bill was going to ask you to play acoustic guitar for me, or something. We gave you a chord sheet once perhaps, to teach Bill how to play the song. A vague memory...
Thanks for that comment. I would love to have my own show, if I could do stupid things like this. For a living, I am now an English teacher, living in France, but I used to be a singer, back in the 1980s. And when I made these clips, I was working in London for a small vegan food company.
This is fantastic! :-) Sadly my first memory is 72 (Vicky Leandros) but Severine is my favourite! I often pass the theatre where Severine won and think of her powerful performance! Paul you're a legend!
Massev6871 Thanks. It's nice to know someone watched and liked it. I don't get many views, but there are many other clips to watch. Nothing quite the same as Severine though. Thanks for your comment 😁
For anyone who's interested in this type of info, the other guy who kindly donated his dignity to psychiatric studies by singing with Paul Shane is Mike Holoway, actor ("The Tomorrow People") singer and musician.
+Portland Dorset England Thank you A! I don't mind that comment at all, definitely a compliment. I am a singer/songwriter mainly, and the 'comedy' element in all this is a new outlet for me, happening by accident. By the way, do we know each other?
Thanks for watching and commenting, Sean. That office door does open, but I always hope it doesn't open while I am filming! As for the vodka bottles, they are water bottles, and are all empty!
+Webowebo8 I don't think this can be the case.....I kinda hope not, it would shatter my thoughts on this, and the many others, the initiated, who remember it the same way. It was on Pebble Mill, presented as a proper performance of this classic. No charity mentioned. It's only good if it's truly this bad! He looked like he was being serious to me.
+Webowebo8 From his obit at the Guardian www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2013/may/17/paul-shane "His career nadir came in 1996 when he sang You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' on the BBC's Pebble Mill at One show - a performance included in a Channel 4 poll of the funniest TV moments." - the laugh track is from that Channel 4 show and the original Pebble Mill performance was serious.
Ben Cousins Hi mate, where in that orbit does it say anything about the performance being serious, just says his career nadir ..etc etc etc.. doesn't refer to its purpose either way, be it serious or for comedy ?
Beautiful singing! Beautiful harmony! The artwork and contemporary dance moves in the end were brilliant. Highly entertaining! 😊 I need a cut out of Josh Groban to duet with. 😇
I think we've met before, Ed, we know some of the same people. Glad you like the video and this song. Maybe you'll come tomorrow to my gig at the Good Ship, 289 Kilburn High Road. On stage at 10:15pm. Come wearing a deerstalker perhaps.
jesus, i have just sat through that, posted it on facebook and added it to my favourites. you have brainwashed me. bay..be....BAABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True genius - amazing document of what many people though was quality entertainment - i bet even the grannies in the audience having a major day out - knew deep down in their hearts this was shit
