My middle school did this today and they did better than I expected. I’m so proud of our drama department. Our actors for Michael and Jane Banks have PIPES! And our actors for Bert and Mary Poppins are phenomenal. But this performance is good, too.
A great collection of US uniforms. Many museums do not have the quantity and quality of Pauls collection. What is excellent about the displays is the complete aspect of the uniforms. Hat, coat, pants, dress, shoes, medals and badges etc. Paul goes to a great extent to display the uniforms correctly according to the regs of the various services. The video is a quick summary of a small part of this collection. To see it in person is very impactful. Serious collectors of US uniforms can learn a lot from Pauls experience and attention to detail.
It was great! I would like to note, that the techies did amazing. The stagehands and lighting was awesome. The music did override what the actors were saying a bit though. Sometimes the lines were too late or too rushed, but with how fast moving this production was I understand why. My biggest reccomendation though would be to work on the accents. The British accents did tend to slip a bit. The kids sounded American, and Bert would occasionally add an 'h' to some words when almost every h in a Cockney accent is silent. Otherwise than that they did a great job with maintaining the accents. The voices were great as well. Everyone was very well casted. Great job!
Great collection by a very serious collector. His attention to detail is excellent and does a great job representing all of the armed forces of the U.S. Paul is a great guy and other collectors would benefit from knowing him and seeing all of his collection.
Definetly, I was in Mt. Olive’s version of this and I wanted to see what other schools were doing and this is defiantly different. But on the bright side we are the youngest group to do this play.
The acting was really well done! Especially the Banks children, George, & Mary Poppins. I appreciate the background changes as well, many productions have a hard time with it. A minor note: the delivery of some lines were off (either too late or too rushed). Also, the music overtakes the actors voices at times, I’d recommend working on projection, but this was overall very well done! 😁
