I run the bartchives (bartchives.com). Lifelong local of the suburban East Bay, rider of over 1,000 BART cars, and the builder of the BART Model Railroad.
Most videos have long descriptions, providing context - feel free to read.
BART videos posted at least once a month, almost always more depending on other dedications.
The SMART & BART systems should be integrated together in the future, so that both can use each other’s station. Like the way it is with the Tokyo subway where the two major subway companies uses each other’s stations and makes the same stops as the other.
I don’t recall even the old fleet having issues like these. I’ve ridden them on rainy days in the past 10 years+ ago and it all sounded normal despite the rain.
I know this voice is very computerized, but the "Attention train ___ approaching" announcement will always give me the chills. So many memories. Now that the new electric fleet is here and modern destination signs are being implemented, I wonder how much longer Caltrain Charlie has in his role. The onboard announcements on the KISS trains are much more clear.
It's been about 4 years since I left Miami and they switched to the hitachi cars already, I'm over here wondering how these folks in Baltimore are still using the Budd cars.
