Man that's good advice, all of it. I'm 53 and have learned mostly is, you do the best ya can with what ya got, where you're at. Thank God for every day, it may be your last. God bless y'all, work safe.
Do you hold the filler wire on top of the weld on sides so you don’t get undercut or do you keep it in the middle I was getting undercut on the sides a little bit
I’m not sure if he mentioned it but make sure you poke some holes on the tape when ur abt to tie in on the root. So the argon doesn’t push the root back out
Wow, that's so smart too put mirror on welding gun. I was always angry when i had to look for place too put mirror with magnes. I will use that method in future, thanks!
I was a Machinist Mate 1st Class in the Navy and on my last ship I stick welded on 600PSI steam lines for repair and valve change outs. The Hull Techs (welders) kept saying they weren't "qualified" and once I showed the Chief Engineer (full Commander) that I could do it he relegated all of that to me. Never did figure out why the HT's refused to do it. My welds never failed btw and passed closer inspection when we had yard repairs and refits.
Just get yourself a pipe and practice by doing it instead of drawing, you will get use to lay the tungsten on a surface and that’s not what you want. If you make mistakes you can learn from it because it’s harder to do it over again. You have to start from the beginning. PRACTICE MAKES EFFORT GUYS, you will get there! 🫡
