Ding is very emotionally susceptible, but he won once against all odds and he will do it again. Never forget Hikaru accepted a draw in 2022 during the candidates because according to his own words "Ding is not going to win the last three games", and he was thus certain to be #2 in the candidates. Then Ding won the three last games, and defeated Hikaru for the #2 spot in the first candidates tournament where second position actually mattered. I respect Hikaru, but he speaks a little too much probably because he's a streamer. In a way, his arrogance made Ding champion last year. This tournament is a wake up call for Ding, he knows it better than anybody else. He will work a lot on himself once he goes back home. Gukesh won't be taking his spot.
Hikaru is the only player who is fond of this confession booth 😂 As for Ding, he is upset because most of the people are not accepting him as a world champion. This title pressure would not be there if he had beaten Magnus to get it. Pull yourself together, Ding. You are a genius. You could find a way-out of this depression👍
I get the feeling a lot of pressure has and is put on Ding by those around him, I think he’s too hard on himself too…and the pressure of the title world champion on top of that. Perhaps he needs to have more fun and let go a little, just my thoughts.
It’s quite incredible how he first gives an in-depth analysis of the other two games, casually, as if it’s nothing! Only then does he comment on his own game. That’s beyond me.
This is so far the most underrated, under-appreciated and under-“liked” and under everything comments of 2024.. The genius is in the simplicity Mmm interesting
Mate . You won everything. U proved Ur the top of the top. Y don't u take the stress off yourself. Play unranked games and try new things without caring about the win necessarily
How do you think he became the best of the best? Not by slacking, but because he lives and breath chess. It's literally his life. He is an athlete that always want's to be Number 1, without a doubt.
The booth as well as more creative tries to change the classical format is why Norway Chess is alot more entertaining to follow live than other classical tournaments
I know all the top players do this fairly easily, but their board recall always blows my mind. I mean, he is so bored he has all the other games memorized and analyzed the potential endings.
As someone who played club level chess for many years, listening to Hikaru speak really highlights to me that there are definitely levels to intelligence and his brain is several hundred thousand years of evolution ahead of my own.
