ineresting. the tone arm lever is damped on my 3500 and yours appears to not be. If I leave the the tone arm lever down and operate the arm manually, the tone arm falls at the speed of gravity. if I drop the tone arm fast using the lever, the lever goes down but the arm takes over 1 second to lower itself. That soft landing is pretty nice. I've never opened mine, but I wonder if mine is a later/earlier version and that feature was removed? or maybe there's a cylinder in yours that needs a small amount of grease?
Roger Is there a list I can go to where I can see what cartridge/stylus system is compatible with the SL D202? I pulled my SL D202 out of storage that I purchased 2nd hand on-line, around 7 years ago but never really played it. Then had to put it back in storage. Today checking the stylus tip with my finger and it was not sharp at all, so I'm sure it's very worn out. I'll need a new shell/cartridge and stylus. Been checking on line all over for the service manual so i can see what cartridges are compatible, to no avail. How did you know the Empire LTD 400 cartridge was compatible? There must be a list of at least 5-7 of them that would be good There are no Technics/Panasonic service centers in my area. I'm in Ohio. Hope you can help.
i have this model. i'd like to ask if the tonearm rests on the holder leveled. I bought mine 2nd hand 5 years ago for 250 euros..except last year i put new thicker cables and a Ortofon blue head shell..and it's much better now.Great machine...from Greece
