i remember this making big mistakes on one drive it upset me but i pulled myself together and became the preferred driver when other trainees made mistakes i passed first time and am bus driver of 24 years
I really like Mickey he seems like a great instructor, And Alvin seems like a good chap, Im so happy to see he passed with all of his hard work despite his struggles
God I know the feeling of driving a bus like that for the first time. It's a scary experience, it makes your heart pound. But these instructors know what they're talking about, if you can put all the fear (and pride) aside, let them guide you, take in their experience... driving a bus is suddenly a piece of cake.
In the last shots we see the lady conductor walking home to Hammersmith, to close the film. Nice touch, but no cigar. When all other buses had stopped running, staff would go home on a staff bus, dropping off all over the place as required. I did a few when I worked at Stockwell in the 80s, it paid an hour or two in overtime.I then went home to Tooting on the N87 night bus. I enjoyed working on the RMs...Routemasters, on 7 different routes. When forced to go OPO, one person operated, I stood it for a few months, and left back in 86. The job was finished.
The number 9 was THE route up into town for me, and I would have gone up there at least 3 or 4 times a month back in the 70s and 80s. Getting on at Mortlake Garage and nabbing the upstairs back seat first was always fun! Such a shame when they curtailed the route due to Hammersmith Bridge.
Disciplinary for going early as a driver ! But the conductor regulates time. If the driver leaves early and the conductor says nothing he's at least jointly if not solely to blame .
It’s better than people wasting their lives on social media and plus these people get millions of Londoners moving everyday whilst boosting the economy
@@dimitarmeckaroski I make more than double than what they make. This is my last reply. You don't know me. Weird guy. You must be a bus driver 😆 I could be a bus driver if I wanted to.. it takes no qualification. The 18 year old next door is a bus driver. End of convo
I worked on the 11 bus route the no9 rival for the most popular route in London. Mortlake’s buses were the best kept buses in London transport fleet , they weren’t clean they absolutely gleamed , a credit to one of the smallest garages in the fleet .
