How has this held up? Trying to decide between tcase gears or ring and pinion. I knoe everyone says you should do both but trying to save some money and i like that the tcase gears provide such a low crawl ratio but also 2hi reduction.
so i am in process of doing this ! i got a titled 00 KDX220r. the previous state AZ titled it as a atv i guess anything offroad dirtbike or atv is considered all terrian vehicles that or it was a mistake bc the title matches the vin along with the model and brand and stuff not a huge deal since its out of state i have to fill out the 130-U forum for title transfer to my name. and waiting on the previous owner to mail me back a bill of sale just incase they ask for it. i talked to another guy he said kind of the samething and told me when they do the title transfer to a texas title tell them its a MC and have the bike street legal ready b4 doing the title transfer so i can off the bat title it as a MC and stuff that way i can do it all at one time sound about right? when you did your inspection did you have DOT approved tires? . as of now i already have a dot hi/low polisport headlight . thinking ill just buy the tusk wiring harness or make my own and run everything off a dewalt drill battery or a milwaukee drill batt. that way i dont have to worry about tying into the oem electrical system
The motor came with only the wires need to run the motor and then you half to blend your samurai harness with the new one it took about 3 days with a couple of us working on it
First step is to go get a state inspection on the bike after you have done everything to get it legal after that you will go to you local court house and tell them that your tying to get your title converted into a motorcycle title and you will need pictures of the modification of the bike to give to them to prove you got it street legal. After all of that you will pay a tax on the value of the bike to the state proably 400$ ish then after all of that they should give you a plate
@Craig Grier it is not a dirt bike it is a motorcycle once it is registered. Progressive I know is one and their is others that will to mine at the cheapest was $78 and full coverage (theft protection) $ 230
Corey I’m currently stuck on the wiring harness for this same swap in my samurai, do you have any tips for getting the harness hooked up and the car started?
My fuel injectors won’t open up even though my fuel pump is connected to my ignition and the ignition turns the car over. I don’t know if it’s a ecm communication issue or a bad ecm or something. Also whenever I touch my alternator wire to the positive battery terminal there is a large spark
Great Samurai mate! I also build one! Just got spring over lift done and will do more! You definitely got my subscribe for samurai!!! If you have some time check my samurai also on my channel!Thank you!
