The difference between 2nd and 1st at the WSOP was $1.2M monetarily which since 2003 is $63K a year until now. I have to think that Moneymaker winning and launching the poker boom over time has made Sammy that much or more in appearance fees such as HSP and playing against opponents who wanted to be the next Moneymaker. The poker boom would've been either much less or wouldn't have happened without Moneymaker winning the bracelet. He was the quintessential everyman that wannabe players could put themselves in his shoes. Sammy winning just wouldn't have had the same impact.
Take a good like at this sad degenerate gambler. The light has gone out of his eyes. Looks like some hard drinking has taken its toll. A piss poor performance all around. RIP.
Moneymaker is considered the good guy, I think, because it was a Cinderella story. The young gun at his first WSOP main event versus the professional poker player.
Age. Talk about his look all you want. Imagine how many hands he's played since how we remember him, in his "prime" during breakout coverage of the WSOP. Sam Farha is probably the richest player in the world, by the way. If he isn't, he's in the top few. I like the look. Guy wears a t-shirt and gets heat for it. Maybe he should wear a golden suit and weigh himself down for the duration of the tournament.
He only got like 400k that year, because he was down so much betting sports. He's probably only got that Tshirt. Don't bet sports kids. In fact i'm writing this from under a bridge thanks to the damn Cowboys!!! Can't make 30 yarder!!!🤨
jokes on money maker, sammy actually won the main event. he only got a luckbox run while sam was all skill, he got the biggest cashout too in 03 because chris' wife took him for half of what he won.
