The fall colors are dull. Every year I waited for the brightness and beauty, and even the mountains were just different shades of brown. Nothing like the north. Cold nights make for breathtaking colors and crisp, sweet/sour apples. I finally left the Charlotte area after 30 years to head back north. Everyone there thought we were crazy, but I LOVE 4 seasons, beautiful falls and snowy winters. NC is NOT for everyone. Jobs are the only real reason that I can see to live in the development-owned local govts allowance of unregulated growth of the outskirts of Charlotte, traffic and population growth that the local govts are not prepared to handle the infrastructure needed for it all. Why aren't the developers forced to pay for the extra/widening roads, needed schools and all of the other headaches that come with moving thousands of families into towns that were built for 5000 people, tops? Instead it's is left up to the taxpayers to wait decades for improvements caused by the developers moving in, building cheap housing for the mcmansion subdivisions every 100 yards, and then they are gone, leaving the stunned population to clean up and PAY FOR their mess. I was just curious to see what was behind this 'recommended' headline, I didn't realize it was a real estate video.
@@RobertBee-fs8hv you’ve obviously never been north of the Mason-Dixon Line in October. Only someone who has never seen the true brilliance of fall could ask that question. Venture into the northern tier states in September or October (depending on how north you go) you may discover that life is actually worth seeing outside of the grind.
NC drivers need to realize that because another driver needs to merge over into your lane, they are NOT trying to "cut you off." Everyone knows how the lanes drop off quickly here and moving and merging is NECESSARY.....again, it's NOT personal! But many drivers insist on running up behind me, blowing their horn, and having a hissy fit even after I signaled my intention, increased my speed (which was already over the speed limit) and moved over as best as I possibly could.
Thank you for actually talking about negative things unlike some people in the comments who rather ignore the truth and just see the good. The good would not exist without the bad.
One thing you might want to consider is Charlotte's light rail. It is a really nice mode of transportation from UNCC to south west Pineville. It runs 20 minutes off peak and 15 minutes peak.
Will Do.....Do You Have Any Options for Someone who Wants to First Time Home Buyer In Your State Local Area But Live In Another State? Want To Mov There And Work In The Health System To buy my first home but don't want to be renting and other unnecessary living arrangements. Want to be about to move and close with ease as much as possible.
Closing with ease can be done. We need to get an offer letter for your job in NC and then once the Lender qualifies you, we can time your closing to work smoothly. Once the job is lined up, give me a call! 704-454-8820
I'm a Charlotte natve and the best thing I ever did was buy a starter home off Rea Road near Providence for $115,000 and then bought another rental near Carmel and Johnston (both in 28226 zip) in 2003 for $143,000. $258,000 invested over 20 years ago = $1.37 million dollars in equity.
Nice! That is a great investment! I love to work on that side of things since there is no emotion involved. If the numbers work, they work. DO you have them as rentals?
Im mad u put this tarantula on the screen! I jumped in surprise and disgust. Anyway, yes these are the negatives most ppl say, but it's still a good place to live. I like in Raleigh-Durham area. But im certain our traffic isnt nearly as bad as Charlotte
Some folks from Charlotte bought a home in my neighborhood recently. They paid a third more than the home was worth ($200,000 more), and started remodeling immediately although the home was recently renovated. Several weeks and many $thousands later it looks much worse than when they started. Where do people this dumb get their money?
Unfortunately, having money does not mean you have taste… I’ve seen plenty of houses that have been renovated that are absolutely atrocious. It’s a shame because then somebody else has to spend all that extra money to fix it and the house will never sell if it’s that much over. Unbelievable! It ruins the entire neighborhood. Maybe when they have to take a loss on the house they’ll learn a lesson. 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
One year later (august 24) there is nothing affordable anywhere. The federal government's monetary policies have destroyed the American dream for everyone except the super rich.
I've lived in NC 22 years and love it. It's not the perfect state as every place has its flaws, but I love that it's very seasonal, you got beaches to the east, mountains west of the state and it's very green and fall is gorgeous here. I live in Cary, the only things I don't like specifically within the Raleigh area are the way some people drive, not everyone but a good number of people here drive like maniacs. If you're going 10 and 15 mph over the speed limit then there should be no reason why a person should feel the need to be all up on someone's bumper as if they aren't going fast enough. Where I'm from that's good way to get into a fight or worse. Other than that no other complaints.

I agree that South Carolina can be cheaper. Rock Hill has made some big changes lately and the area is growing and improving. We have seen prices rise over 30% in that area in the last 3 years which is huge. It can be hard to find an inexpensive starter home but the later in life stage homes are usually a great option
WOW ... I was just there a few months ago, my brother and his wife were looking around there for a home. From what I saw it was really pretty and the people were just friendly and nice. The whole week there I did not see one piece of trash on the ground or even any homeless walking around holding up signs.
@@livinginnorthcarolina .. I lived in Houston for a couple of years, I knew some people there who lived in Austin. I was there twice before for a long weekend, I saw some homeless but nothing like what I saw in Houston.
Winston Salem is the most under appreciated city in NC. Great arts and cultural city. Great health care. Three respected universities. Affordable housing. Good schools. Reasonable taxes. Easy to get around. Easy drives to the mountains and shores. Terrific restaurants. As person who grew up in Boston, the 20 years I lived in W-S I consider it my true home. Great people and lots of young people and families.
That is awesome to know! My son lived close to WS for 3 years and he liked it a lot. I agree there is a lot to do and it is super convenient to everywhere!
@@livinginnorthcarolina When we arrived in 1997 it was sleepy, but as the research park developed in the old tobacco factories near downtown the city changed - for the better. The nightlife was fun with many options. Condos went up.The ball park opened. The housing is very nice .Reynolda House Museum and the property make for a great walk than can take you WfU, which is a beautiful campus.
@@paulmclaughlin710I think you have me convinced to take a trip over there and check it out. I love a good day trip too. Maybe I will do a video while I’m there. Maybe a WS vs Greensboro
everything you said you hate about NC can be applied to Hartford, CT, except for the BUGS not as many. but your winters are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than CT. and TAXES we have the highest. I plan on moving to Lake Norman area
You are ABSOLUTELY right!! We love it here actually and live in the Lake Norman area! When are you moving here? We'd love to help you! Text us and we can set up a direct MLS house search 704-454-8820
My son(s) are all my heart and soul! I love them and they are very close to me. I am fortunate to have such great sons. I am curious though, why would I leave NC? It is my home and since I grew up in a military family, I moved a lot and this is the longest place I have lived. It is my home.
I love Asheville! I love the mountains and the beauty of it all. I appreciate the good food, neat art, and in my experience, the people have been awesome.
We get pretty busy in the summer and especially on holidays! There are a lot of parades and fireworks so the main body of water has a lot of traffic but the coves are normally wonderful if you want to dock and hang out
I understand! At the same time, I believe I am here to be sure to help people find the right places to move to so they are happy and understand what they are getting into
This looks like a fabulous little city. I'd love to try The Chophouse. Plenty of benches to sit and sip on some coffee and enjoy the scenery. I'll have to check out this little town.
Just tell everyone that has to move here not to turn this place into the craphole that they just left. Mooresville is the original 10lbs of crap in a 2lb bag.
Not being negative, just giving a different point of view. We bought a place here15 years ago from upstate NY. The traffic has gotten crazy all over, when we go back to visit, it's just as bad there. The humidity in NY is worse than down here, it can get pretty hot there, but it feels hotter even when the temperature isn't as high, because it's so humid. The pollen was just as bad covering our vehicles in NY. My allergies as well as my son's allergies have been a lot better down here, to the point where I rarely use medicine anymore. I think a lot of that is because it doesn't get as much snow and rain here, so there is less mold spores in the air. Now as for bugs... I hate bugs, we didn't have palmetto bugs or fire ants, which was great, but there were many times the mosquito's would litterally swarm us, you could rarely go outside without getting eaten alive. I think we've seen less than 5 mosquito's since we moved here, and we're outside all the time. Which is another big plus for living down here. We rarely had a string of pleasant days up there, it was either way too cold, or too hot and humid. I wouldn't complain at all.
Is the humidity in NY worse, omg, I did not know that! Wow, I have never been to NY. I am so glad your allergies are better. We have had to go through adult onset allergies with my husband. He has been miserable but that could have happened to him in Ohio too. I just read that Charlotte is the 9th worst state for mosquitos, ugh! I agree that NC is wonderful, these are very small issues that do not even really matter when life is good. I love it here, even with these minor things.
