Tbf you are only killing the kill switch because you keep replacing your hands whilst riding because you cant keep them on the grips. Said my inner Dad.
Petty gripes that mostly if changed to your liking would ruin the bike. You could always get something else. As for the pillion seat, my pillion is lithe and fit and finds it comfortable. She is thus encouraged to stay so and in any case is not a complaining whinger. So, I’m all right thanks, I’ll keep my Triumph and happy passenger. 🙂
I swear people don’t get the point of these videos. In no way shape or form are they male or break points they’re just points I would change if I could. Nothing wrong with the size of my pillion mate but, compared to some seats it’s a bit small
How can I jack up the rear wheel on the 400X to remove it? Are there swing arm bushes for this? I can't find any threaded mounts for this on the swingarm.
Dude I'm not sure if someone has already said this but every time I come across one of your videos I instantly think of Lando Norris because of your voice.
the 900 cannot be a real scarmbler untill it has atleast 150mm suspension travel , front and rear . so unless there is a 900x version the Scrambler 900 is a scrambler in name only.
You need a 1200. The 900 is basically a town bike. Plus may I recommend Continental TKC-Rocks tyres. I have owned 2 Scrambler 900’s. I always wanted a 1200xc, but I am too short for it. The 1200x is just a rip-off. I could try to lower the XC but I actually went for a lighter Italian bike. The new bike is only 175 kilos as opposed to the 223 kilos on the 900. Definitely more flickable but I will miss the sound of the Triumph. 😉🙏
Awesome scrambler! Only thing I'd say is it's a scrambler, part of the original design of the scrambler and bobber style motorcycles is that they're minimalist bikes, so asking for more tech on a scrambler goes against the design philosophy of the scrambler. Really the 900 street scrambler is more of a true scrambler than the higher 1200 Triumph scrambler, with all their tech and offroad specialized parts.
I know I know, I just wish there was a little more integrated stuff for like maps or something and I know there’s the beeline moto stuff but, from dealer always seems to work better in my opinion. I’m glad you like the Scram!
I've only had that happen to my older non maglock cases when the cases are over 3 years old. I just replaced mine. If you bought the case within the last year go ahead and contact quadlock and ask for warranty replacement. Plastics on these cases eventually warp. One additional note as someone who has almost 2k subs, 500 subs vs 1k subs won't really matter man, just make the good content and people will come. Builds do draw subs but what's more so important is regular uploads and use of tags.
The mentality that you need a big engined “scrambler” is a clever marketing gimmick to hook the fashion conscious. We on crf300 and Drz400e and even a Husqvarna svartpilen leave the big bike riders way behind in real “scrambling” territory and the “real” dirt bikes leave us for dead. So many people think a scrambler has to be of large capacity and that is just stupid. We get sick of having to stop and help people pick up GS1200’s and triumph 1200’s. Yep if you want to do big mileages on roughing roads then go big! But if you want to do proper “scrambling “ go small and light. There’s a reason triumph “invented “ the historic scrambler and it was Definately NOT A large capacity machine
@@Nomad_Scrambler the 400x brings back the smaller lighter capacity thumper which offers in reality better off road application, however it should have had wire wheels to suit the off road terrain better. Thumpers or singles are always the better for “real” off road use due to their power delivery characteristics. Hence why all motocross bikes are single piston engines. Triumph have done a great job and I would have been very happy to pay more for this 400x with better adjustable suspension and wire wheels. That would have made it perfect and cleaned up in terms of sales. Always hoping Yamaha bring back an up to date XT 500.
Mutts aren’t known for being overly quick they claim about 75mph on the website I’m pretty sure but, these bikes are more back road heroes than motorway work horses
I went into triumph just after passing my test. I had intentions of getting the Scram900 they had as a demo but it had sold. I took a test ride on the sram 400 and bought one the next day. Not regretted it yet.
I have to agree with everything you said. These things annoy me too . In addition why the hell didn’t Triumph put spoked tubed wheels on the scrambler 98% of riders will never go off road on it.
I have the 2020 900SS, the 2024 400X, and the 2022 1200XE (I did own a 2019 1200XC before) and I believe that the 900SS ist the best multi purpose bike… I would describe the power as follows 400X: peppy, 900SS: torque wave, 1200: hooligan…
I believe the camshaft upgrade is only up to the 19 model. I have the scrambler 900 2023 model and the only thing I miss about it is that is has a terrible turning circle. Wish it could turn the steering wheel as much as the Scrambler 400/1200. Cool bike. Where did you buy the mirrors, and is it easy to attach both mirrors and hanguards?
I had a 1970 Yamaha scrambler. I rode that thing everywhere trails , pits, sandy beaches in Florida when you could ride on the beach. This 400x out performs that scrambler in every way. The 900 scrambler is not even close to the original scramblers.
Not about being close to original scramblers in my eyes it’s more about whether or not the 400x fits in triumphs line up of “scramblers” it just doesn’t have the same styling ques
I’ve done a few mods to scrambler 900 indicators, mudguard or fender extender indicators and oil sump guard , which see at 777Ruffdriver if they wants to, I think you missed one out. I hate the petrol cap good video keep up the good work.
Did you not make a list of your needs before buying? Every thing you criticise was known before purchase! As with other comments the reason you give are all reasons for me buying the scrambler. Simplicity, no gimmicks/gadgets. Even the tyres - possibly not my first choice but a tyre that is rated by many adventure bike riders! Mate you simply bought the wrong bike for your needs.
Personally I disagree I absolutely love my bike and will never sell it. Get more bikes?… yes 100% but, don’t let the title lead you astray all of these things I “hate” are just things I would like. Right now my bike is exactly how I want it and fits what I want from it at this moment in time
Given that it was a demo bike I assume it was over 1000km but, I guess I won’t know! For me though it’s a great bike just wish they kept the lines and style queues from the 900/1200cc
I had one of these as my first bike and put around 3500 miles on it commuting daily and riding at the weekends in the space of 4 months before I passed my full test and got an XSR900. It was a joy to ride throughout and I find myself missing it often as it had bundles of character. You're spot on about the lack of power and the front mudguard. I'm 6'4, 100kgs and it did struggle to hit 60 with me on board. I think the fastest I did was 68 down a big hill laid on the tank. If money weren't so tight I'd 100% get another one with the 250 engine to commute on.
Finally nice to see some honest reviews on this bike thanks for taking the time to share, I think they should have stuck to a cable throttle sick of all these fly by wires tbh an the feel from it. That’s my take on it. I don’t think they are as cheap as people are making out it’s still a lot of money to most people. I think what they need to make is a 650 twin with a 360 degree firing order that’s 166kg dry like the old TR6c desert sleds. From in the original period an return to cable throttles shame they didn’t make it a 400 or 500 twin like the original t100c bikes which were super light
@@Nomad_Scrambler oh yep deffo I’ll always be a fan of the 360 degree cranks they really roar when you wind them on what they used in the British twins back in the day (my daily rider is a 1967 Norton 650SS on my other channel) I agree though 400 270 degree twin would have been proper fun they should have called it a tiger cub tbh the 400x would have been a more apt name from the past although I wonder if Triumph are saving that for a 125 :)
Richa gloves, I can’t remember the exact name but, they’re the summer gloves in the retro style. Might have been discontinued because I can’t seem to find them now
A Scrambler 900 can be a good beginner bike for strong beginners, but it's a bit heavy for weaker beginners. A lighter thumper dualsport might be a better choice. A 37WHP Suzuki DR650 can be shaved to around 320lb curb (similar to a stock CRF250L), the seat can be lowered to 30" or less, and the power can be seriously increased as skills develop.
Great insight man! I agree with the weight for lighter individuals but, I think it can still be quite manageable! Great to have the community respond with other suggestions
@@logangodofcandyReally? How tall and heavy are you? What is your inseam? Can you leg-press more than 200lb? If you're some 5'10"+ athletic/strong guy who has ridden mini-bikes as a kid, do you not think that maybe you might have an easier time of handling a 400lb+ motorcycle with a 30"+ seat height than a 4'11" woman who didn't play outside much as a kid?
I started and still am on a Scrambler 900 and can´t see myself ride anything else. People ahead turn their heads when you approach, point and talk. It´s just a cool bike that does everything good enough and is fun to ride. I exchanged the stock Metzeler Tourance for some Pirelli Scorpion Trail 3 and can recommend them very much if you drive more road than gravel and dirt.
I’ve always been in love with this bike especially the way it is now but, I just wanted to share my thoughts about things I would want from stock if I was in charge of designing this bike. Nothing compares to my bike now I’ve done the bits I wanted. Just an insight to my mind I guess
Amen on the gear recommendation to riders man. Here in Los Angeles we have a bunch of squids ridding in sandles, shorts and no gloves and I shake my head everytime I see it. Funnily enough I've been rocking Akin armored shirts, and vests for the past 8 years. Great gear but customer service is hit or miss which is why I have yet to recommend them on my channel.
@Nomad_Scrambler I've got two a discontinued red and black one it's pretty solid has back armor and both elbow and shoulder armor and is lined with abrasion resistance. Only issue with the red amd black one is that a snap button gave way after 2 years. As for customer service I had issues with sizing ordered what they recommend and they said they'd exchange only if I shipped back at $80 out of pocket. Had to go back and forth with them via 6 emails to get them to send me a new one as they didn't want to eat return shipping. Keep in mind at the time I was one of the only creators supporting them.
I see it alot on Instagram, seems to be a big thing in the US to wear fucking yoga pants or some shorts and a helmet and call it a day, their loss I guess
