Good to hear your coverage. It seems like there are several players that might be undervalued at this point, which reminds me of last year. It seemed there were several players last year (Deshawn, Kene, OL?, …) who had 3,4,5 pt rating boosts during their senior seasons. It would be nice to hear you and Kevin discuss scholarship numbers. IIRC there are about 30 seniors this season, so it would seem that we would be shooting to replace them. Do you think the staff will intentionally under recruit hs players so they can portal more older players? With someone like Bryce Foster transferring this summer, is he someone that counts against the next class instead of this one (blue shirt?). I seem to recall that was the case with Adeniji and a few others.
Instant offense, athletic and will be a really good rebounder.. has all the tools to be a very good defender as well.. self will get the best out of him imo .. rock chalk!!
It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if Elmarko Jackson transferred. He was a freaking TO machine. I hope he has a monster season and proves me horribly wrong. We need him to have a crazy Jalen Wilson type comeback season.
Elmarko was a freshman that got overhyped because he was the best recruit last year though a 20 something vs the normal top 10. He should have been a good reserve subbing in a few minutes at a time and would have been fine in that capacity. Next year, he will get to relax a bit and sub in behind Harris and Zeke, and after an offseason to develop. He’s still relatively new to BB.
While I’m not super happy with a 32% three point percentage, I am happy that Self looks to be putting together a very athletic team. The athleticism of Storr, Bidunga, and KJ Adams is extremely high it would seem. Here’s a question: would it be better for KU to have Harris coming off the bench rather than starting as was the case in the 2nd half of the 2022 National Championship game. I love Harris, but I think we need a better scorer at the point. And in this day and age, college basketball has to be run as if it were the NBA where ability trumps loyalty to a player. It’s a business now.
Mannnnnn. Love Harris but damn I agree with this. Gotta get the ballers the ball to compete in March. I feel the same about KJ coming off the bench. What you think ?
Offense seems to fall apart when Harris is off the floor and the defense most definitely falls apart... I want DeJuan playing 35 minutes per game, minimum. With wings that can drive/shoot better than last year, his lack of offensive impact will be minimized.
Huh. Didn't expect that. I hope he doesn't implode the team chemistry.... if he can stop playing hero ball and fit in a role, then this could be really good. I'm just worried. I guess trust in Bill, eh? Rock Chalk Jayhawk
@@thehighlandhomestead190 not everybody follows they gf. Great get for us tho. Rock chalk ❤️💙 Self will make it work. Trust in self is the right answer always!!
@@apacheking9776 Yeah she committed after Illinois countered his offer of 1 mil to 700k max but it wasn’t enough. Great add for KU should be preseason 1 or 2 with UCONN
The "Spring Showcase" was on ESPN plus. Its was basically 30 minutes of youtube clips. I was very disappointed. Haven't seen anything that is actually of the guys playing.
The discussion/concern about depth at some positions is less significant as I think back to WR-22 or DL-23, or even depth at OL-22. This staff has been so good at developing players that preseason concerns never seem relevant once the season arrives. Glad to hear the comment about Dak. Great that there’s no comment about him being slowed by rehabbing from the fall ‘23 injury. It will be interesting to see how he and Deshawn fit. That’s really exciting from a futures perspective.
We need more NIL money for BASKETBALL just as Coach Bill Self said at the end-of-the-year banquet. Contrary to what some magazine reported, Self said we spent about $2 million NOT $4 million on NIL for basketball all the while KENTUCKY is promising Coach Pope will get AT LEAST $6 million per season for BASKETBALL NIL money. Arkansas has promised Coach Calipari at least $5 million per season for BASKETBALL NIL. Folks our RIDICULOUS spending on football FOOL’S GOLD is going to cost us our beloved basketball prestige. FOOTBALL IS NOT OUR BRAND. We will never be likes of Alabama, Oklahoma, or Ohio State in football. But WE CAN STAY AS ELITE as any basketball program in America. We owe it to the LEGACY OF JAMES NAISMITH, OUR FOUNDER, AND PHOG ALLEN TO STAY ON TOP IN BASKETBALL!!
@@chasefrench1864 I want Kansas to remain at the very top or real close. It is our identity. It is our brand. Fans at Kentucky, UConn, and North Carolina know their identity and have a passion about their basketball programs. If I want great football, I’ve got the Chiefs. As a big Chiefs fan, I’ll tell you this. I love the Chiefs. And I love Kansas basketball. But compared to Jayhawks basketball, the Chiefs mean nothing to me. I’d cash in all 3 Super Bowl wins for 3 more KU basketball National Championships and keep those UConn fans from chirping so much.
No!!!! Football is the money maker!!! Basketball will be fine why are u worried about Arkansas and Kentucky!!! They are not on the same level as Kansas only thing Arkansas has that Kansas doesn't is Big pockets donors which don't turn into shit. Kansas football can and should compete with Bama Ohio State.
@@joegray4285 Why don’t we do a survey of Kansas Jayhawks alumni and ask the question, “Which is more important to you, Kansas basketball or Kansas football?” I think you know what the overwhelming response would be. I’d like to think someday I’m going to win Powerball, but the reality is I’m not going to. If you actually think our football program is going to catch Alabama or Ohio State in football, you are delusional. But our storied basketball program was founded by James Naismith. Major college basketball literally was started by James Naismith in 1898 when he founded the KU basketball program. We owe it to his legacy. My goal is to eventually catch North Carolina in Titles and then Kentucky. I’ve already got KC Chiefs football. That’s enough for me.
