Pirates. Regency era. Sounds like you are a Historical Fiction writer. The Regency-era-inspired novels are mostly Jane Austen-esque stuff, but the difference is that Jane Austen was a woman of the English gentry, and modern authors mostly aren't. For Austen, it's just a contemporary novel. For us, it's historical romance. People can't really write with the authenticity of Austen because they don't live in the 19th century anymore, and they aren't part of the British landed gentry. Nevertheless, derivative works are still enjoyable in their own ways.
I've realised the same thing lately that my editing needs to be more substantial and less surface level in order to improve what I want to say. Apparently my first drafts are zero drafts haha.
i actually have a channel (other, that is not that generic account), and i want to be a writter too. ur vdeos give me inspiration how to make my writting videos and how actually writte. i finally could rewrite 500 characters in one day.
I'm currently writing a book but I've put it off for a few weeks because I thought it was turning out horribly and I really had no motivation to fix the plot holes/mistakes i made (since I am 2 chapters in) But this is kinda giving me some motivation to get up and rewrite / revise the book ! Keep up the good work !
I’m so happy you found inspiration from my video! I feel you, sometimes I’m so frustrated with myself for leaving future me with plot holes I wanna stop, but then the idea of having my completed project I can give to the works keeps me going. Good luck on finishing your book!
Your cat is SO CUTE 😭😭😭😭😭 also yeah I agree. Sometimes writing drives me up a wall because I'm a perfectionist.. And finally someone who thinks dialogue is also a pain lol.
Thank you !!! I totally feel you, sometimes I get so frustrated that I can’t write the thoughts I want to convey perfectly that sometimes I think of giving up. This RU-vid channel is kind of a way to keep myself accountable tbh
I’m definitely leaning towards the pen name route, but then I get kinda sad knowing you guys will never know what I wrote! But with the way editing Is going at the moment that might be for the best 💀 and thank you!
I think 3 months is a valid amount of time to plan. When I did the outlining for my novel, it took about the same amount of time even when I was really into it. I'm working on the outline for my second draft and trying to get it done before my semester starts so hopefully I only need 2 weeks this time around haha
School is such a buzz kill with writing 😭 I thought outlining my new book would only take 3 months but now I’m rushing to edit my first before the school year starts back up again 🥲 good luck on your outlining!
I’ve also heard of that! But I was under the impression it was one of those sites where you had to “pay coins” to read so I wasn’t really sure if that would work well with an unknown author. I’m interested to hear your experience (with reading or putting your work on :) )!
really been enjoying your channel lately:) cozy vibes and you've helped inspire me to continue work on my manuscript as well. looking forward to your future videos!
oh and i dont use wattpad but i really think its still popular, so i think for a test run it would be good! just so long as youre comfy with your original content being online! gl!
I agree that zero drafts are so different from the next one, zero drafts are to get a general idea down after you wrote the zero draft you have to write the whole story again, with the concept of draft zero. The first draft is the draft that can be edited upon. The stages I used to edit my first draft are: first major plotholes and scenes edits, second grammar edits, then letting beta-readers go over it, after that line edits, and at last rereading it. I just wanted to let you know that this works for me. So for everyone editing drafts, you can try this!
Currently editing my first draft of my novel as well and I so feel you on the continuity errors. I have MANY and I made a timeline spreadsheet of the life events before and during as well. WHY. You're not alone on that one. My whole first draft is very info dumpy as well so I feel you.
Hi. I love your vlogs, and as for looking for readers, do what you think is best. There is no harm in asking a friend who is good with words or even an Alpha or beta readers will also do. For me, I basically post my chapters on a book app, where people can read it all over the world. Plus, once you reach a certain amount of people on the app, you can apply for a contract with them to get paid. Unfortunately, I have been struggling with my werewolf story for over a year now. Thought that I could write four chapters each month, where I failed because of my health problems and my day job that plays around with my creative writing time. Cheers until your next vlog.
I feel like my struggle might lie in the fact I’m not confident in my work so I’m not ready for people who know me to read it yet and judge my abilities if that makes sense? I think if I do anything it’ll be anonymous for the time being haha. What app do you use to share your story? I’d love to look into something I could get paid for to help me along! And omg I also have a werewolf story in the works! Four chapters a month is very ambitious so honestly I’m amazed you even accomplished that for even a little bit! Good luck in your writing, maybe we’ll see each other’s names on books in the future 🤍
Thank you !! If you stick around for one of my upcoming videos about starting my editing process you’ll see that even the most organized people mess up 🙃 good luck on your own novel as well !
