Wasn’t there a real or man made island across from the fibber glass island (with the slide) in the pond? I kept thinking that the Little Toot boat took you out to it.
I have been towing since 1969, seems like every 6 months or so I am in a funeral with one or two of my rigs are in the possession the last one 😅😅was my uncles who owned a wrecker service in Pensacola Florida
Very Cool video with the Washington Monument in the background! Thanks for the information as I knew nothing of this Hell I didn’t know the train was blowing through till a friend told me while I was fanning down in Springfield for me to get into position for a loaded military train I was fanning earlier that morning caught the Union Pacific and the CSX heritage
@@ElyseHorvath You're welcome. Sounds like you had quite the railfaning day. Reminds me of going track side in the early 90's when my brother & I 1st started driving. Just a scanner & word of mouth. Sure was a lot different & fun never knowing what you might find.
@dcmkris kinda the same way with bus fanning now vs even 10 years ago Now all these younger generations just can track stuff online without actually needing to go out and find stuff While I do enjoy being able to track things if I’m going out for a specific model it’s usually more fun to just stumble upon stuff and be happy with what you found and understand you may not find what your after but you had fun regardless
@@ElyseHorvath I hope so. In pictures you look don’t look like a boy and you definitely don’t sound like a boys I am I also interested in plumbing fixtures but I don’t agree with men going the women’s restrooms or women’s going in the men’s restroom.
Hello Elyse, I remember these elevators quite well. These were sadly modded recently. In the main hospital building, they still had a completely otiginal 1947 Westinghouse Freight Elevator. That was modded in the mid 90s
When did they get modded 😩? That’s really sad they were probably a favorite of mine “pre world changing thing” but it was definitely there time as much as u hate to say that
These old Westinghouse Elevators are cool. They were reliable. However, they were bcoming too expensive to maintain. It was getting harder to find parts for them. @ElyseHorvath
Possibly Montgomery originally, but I am not sure. Don't know if they have an AC motor or an EcoDisc in the motor room, but definitely KONE LCE Controller.
Yep I now also work here on campus it’s been tagged for a while and considering the plans for new construction and the fact you can have a level entry on either side it was never a priority to fix it
@@ElyseHorvath As a student at MC I know most of the elevators: Science Center/Science West: OTIS Gen2 MRLs Gudelsky Technical Institute/Technical Center: Dover Impulse Oildraulic South Campus Instructional: OTIS Series 1 Hydraulic Music Building: KONE Series 220 Hydraulic Arts Building: Unknown Old Elevator that I don't know what kind it is Theater Arts: Elevator that I don't know who installed it (looks like a mix of KONE/Schindler) Campus Center/Humanities/Macklin Tower/P.E. Building/Manakee Building: Old Elevators modded by Generic Companies Student Services: Generics that LOVE to Break Down all the time North Garage: Generic Traction Elevators
It’s now not even called Roy’s anymore like a month after I posted it that big yellow sign was removed and it’s as far as I know doesn’t have a real name besides car wash
@@ElyseHorvath RU-vid removes the link, but if you look up Uncommon Elevators’ channel you’ll find it. The homemade indicator is fully functional with no wires hanging, and the lanterns now light up while the elevator is arriving (which is why it was flipped upside-down on LL), the camera was replaced, and if you look through the lighting panels above the COP, you’ll find a USI smoke alarm.
I notice you watch mostly the hospital elevator content of mine (or at least comment on the most) any particular interesting when it comes to the hospitals for you?
@ElyseHorvath Survivor of a burn accident when I was only 7 years old. Spent a month on a burn unit from April to May of 1988 at Children's Hospital in Washington DC. The one you did at Providence Hospital in DC is very special to me. I have full-blown kidney failure. Providence hospital saved my life when I lost my insurance and they didn't care and they took great care of me. It's heartbreaking what has happened to it. Also, after elementary school I used to play on those elevators at Georgetown hospital and nobody ever gave me trouble and everybody was always very nice. Many places I felt safe the old days believe it or not were hospitals. You're the first individual to notice this about me and that means a lot. And when many of these elevators were put in comment that's back when hospitals were places that truly cared. I don't waste my time with new elevators because they're not the same. New doesn't mean better.
@mannyistheman2221 so what I will say about the old vs new debate here Survivor bias The old stuff we are still seeing today is the stuff that has lasted the test of time there was definitely pretty crappy things back in the day too right now in modern times we haven’t had the time to weed out the new crap vs what will last (I like vintage stuff myself and I like the looks and feels better but there’s some new stuff I can enjoy) Also I prefer hospital as well you generally will get older stuff and I don’t get pestered about filming too much have you seen my video of the old general elevators at John’s Hopkins? The pathology elevators
@ElyseHorvath I have seen your videos definitely on those old elevators in the pathology building. I can tell you those were originally manually operated Otis elevators were later modernized by general elevator. I'm not surprised there are old elevators on the Hopkins campus in Baltimore. Some of those buildings are quite old. There are new elevators that are quite good not all modernizations are bad. I'm very impressed with mods that show respect to the character of the elevator. Even though the Westinghouse elevators at Georgetown University did get recently modded. They did it in a very respectful way. I used to play on elevators a lot growing up and I found them very intriguing. When you think about it, everything that is new 1 day will become old. There are exceptions to this. Everything in life and then this world has to be new sometime. The question is, how long will those things last. I've seen a lot of your elevator videos and you've done a lot of great stuff. I can tell you from my experience not every place was receptive to me doing what I did.
Figured these Elevators were modernized too after seeing Jared’s post. At least this former Hotel was put into good use after sitting vacant for years.
