I mean there could be a visual? What is this? Radio? RU-vid is a VIDEO channel, not a podcast app, not to mention Lismore's work which is primarily visual and performative, not narrative
I'm going to sound repetitive - but I genuinely love the peak behind the scenes you give us with these conversations. I'm even starting to enjoy the fact that they're not visual :) It leaves a lot to my imagination, AND gives me the chance to research some of the collections and people you talk about. Thank you for taking the time to make these episodes @Carol.
Thank you for yet another captivating conversation, Carol. I find these expansive because they let me not just behind the scenes of the industry, but also 'between the lines'. I wish we could have a visual insight into this amazing location too though :) Jewelry's influence is very sensory-based so it feels a little detached when we can only hear and not see you.
Carol - thank you for taking the time to answer questions and to share your latest knowledge - I found this episode very useful. What is the best way to hear when your book is released, and about the signing tour dates and places?
Thank you for this. I saw the Netflix documentary and I felt compelled to look for "more Aja". Very interesting subject, explained in an informative, entertaining and non-patromnising way. Great host and guest 👍
Thanks for such a Great session, in my mind i have no doubt that Lalique is the most Underrated Artist of all time... maybe because of his niche specialty in the general art scene, but he is such a fascinating and multi faceted Artists that should be studied and talk about more... Keep up the Good Work
Carol - thank you for creating these interviews and for the generous sharing of your experience and expertise. We don't have enough of these conversations in our industry. Especially not ones that cross between fashion's influence on jewelry, and ones that bridge the gaps between the different stages a jewelry craftsperson may be in their business. It was useful to see through this interview the differences in how a brand can get popular now and pre-instagram (and other socials). Patience and clarity of ethos seem to be an essential for longevity.
I often wonder how many times I heard gemologists and auction houses say it's so rare and it's one a kind or it's a find of the century only to have another one come up a few years later.
What ever happened to the Zales Diamond? When I worked for Zales in the last century they had a very large (yellow?) diamond they titled the Zales Diamond. They had assigned it to one of their top cutters but I moved back to Ohio and I lost track of it. IIRC it was over 200 carats uncut.
How can he say that ? The universe is massive you don’t know what’s out there , they find those green gems in meteorites so that proves him wrong . Don’t say they don’t grow anywhere else but earth , you haven’t been everywhere in the universe .
