Baby Boomers are getting the blame for low interest rates. Funny isn’t it. The baby boomer generation came about after the war. Governments needed to repopulate. In Australia child endowment was introduced to encourage people to have more babies (future worker bees actually). So here we are at the behest of the government. A generation that worked hard jobs from 14 to 65 without complaint. Paid taxes all our lives and the Australian Government took all the extra tax we were paying them to secure a pension on retirement and put it into a pension fund to cover the cost of the baby boomers who just as we all entered the workforce at one time, would retire from it at one time. Then in their wisdom. They decided to take that pension fund and roll it over into general revenue. They and successive governments spent the bloody lot. So who is responsible for the fact Governments cannot manage the expense of an aging population. The Greedy Government who took all that money WE THE TAXPAYERS paid into that pension fund and spent it. Now to take the heat off themselves - they’re blaming the baby boomers. It’s not us. It’s Government mismanagement of our funds that’s caused this.
We are suppose to open up and have free trade with a country that has no rule of law and no environmental standards. The rest of the world can’t compete. The rest of the world can’t keep buying their stuff. If they don’t move to a consumer lead economy. The gdp of China is causing deflation around the world not adding to gdp.
