And 2 years later . . . 24 slams and still going strong! Should have 27 or 28 slams but for covid and fluke DQ. Best athlete of our time, best ever in tennis.
Tell that to tournament organizers that rigged draws for Nadal/Feder, and AO who coincidentally struck a deal with Nadal’s tennis academy around the time Novak was deported.
Always share this bcs all that great man Said its not popularity conteat an now its 23….gramps bcs 3 sets its different story and you get wall and The perso full package…..
I've had a number of Salty Fedal fans attack my comments on Novak. They attack Novak's persona and claim that he can't be the GOAT because most tennis fans don't see him as the GOAT in their hearts, as he is unliked. Desperate argument that proves Novak has all the key stats and records. Last year when Rafa won the phoney AO, they declared Rafa as the GOAT. When Novak drew level, then the abuse started. Easy to look like class, polite fans when Rafa and Roger were on top, as was the perception years ago. True colours showing now, that Novak is the GOAT. Just classless and salty losers.
I disagree with one thing John said. This is the greatest men's generation ever. No way. From about 1978 until 1993 range you had more guys who could and did win multiple grand slams than now and it ain't close. Jimmy Conners Bjorn Borg John McEnroe Boris Becker Ivan Llendle Andrea Agassi Jim Courier Pete Sampras and a couple others. Some overlapped some didn't but it was the most competitive era by a ways.
mcenroe doesn't know what he's saying... he himself has 1 less grand slam than jimmy connors however he is better than jimmy connors, and he's better not because of the slams but because of his popularity, charisma, elegance and for everything he did for tennis... roger and novak is the same thing: slams are important, it's true, but the numbers aren't the most important thing. as the rolex ad mentioned, there are things that the numbers don't translate, which is the fact that roger federer is the best tennis player of all time, the most popular, the best known on and off the field, the most elegant, what did he do? more for tennis, it's thanks to federer that tennis was reborn, it's thanks to federer that there are millions and millions of children wanting to play tennis... federer is and always will be the greatest of all time and numbers don't matter.
Djokovic started PTTA for lower ranked players so they can retire on a high. While Fed was a media puppet. Nuff said his popularity will just decline in 50 years time when new gen break his records and new gen without bias look at stats
