I miss my home town, born there, 4th generation. Unfortunately priced out in 2011 because of the property boom. Was too poor to live there, couldn't afford a rental let alone my own place. Such a shame. Moved to freezing cold Stanthorpe and was able to afford a rental. Although now the property boom and housing crisis has hit everywhere, but Darwin was one of the first. I ll always have a space in my heart for Darwin but i grew to love chilly Stanthorpe, couldn't imagine leaving.
Wow " I appreciate your comment " it's unfortunate when the cost of living in such a wonderful city makes it difficult for some to reside there.Hopefully, there are still other ways you can still enjoy the beauty of the area.
Henley Beach was the most boring, dowdy place, alla British seaside, until a Greek restaurant opened there in the early eighties and started its transition to one of the most desirable and foodie destination coastal areas, not only in South Australia, but indeed in Australia. To this day many of the buildings and businesses are owned by Greek-Australians who can proudly take credit for transforming the area. A little bit of the Mediterranean Down Under!
Remember the days when you could spontaneously decide to hit the town, and every venue you walked into was buzzing with energy. The street were alive with people, laughter, and music.
@aussiesightseer yep heaven rise earth Church and the planet then 8am recovery would open up no lockout laws no drink limits late 90s early 2000s were the days for nightlife in Adelaide. Todays young crowd got no idea..
As an ex Adelaide resident, I can assure you it is. Best beach in South Australia. For non nudists, who may feel a little self conscious about going “all the way” just go for it. Everyone else on the beach is nude and they won’t take any notice of you. Once you get over that first time hesitant feeling, you’ll experience a new sense of accomplishment and freedom. I did.
I lived on the Broadway, parents managed unit block,s in the 70,s I was a teenager.my step father played for glenelg.2nd job they had was working at the pier hotel, where bands like cold chisel, angels & many others played, pub band scene was cool, its a beautiful place.its certainly come a long way from the then..
What a dump!! Terrible looking nightlife area, bad fashion, no one around, not cool or underground at all. Looks good for a bogan or a standard backpacker type of person.
