It depends on the size of the baby. Some babies outgrow by 9-12 months. Some last until 15 months. The baby must be smaller than 30 inches, 30 lbs and have more than one inch of space above the head. If any one max is reached the seat is outgrown. The next step is a convertible or all in one seat that can rear face the child to 2 and beyond. The. Forward face harness
I hate this car seat with a passion. I dont see how this seat passes safety guideline especially when you see how the shoulder straps are held together with a tiny metal buckle where the straps and easily slide out.
Almost all car seats use that same type of splitter plate. The straps shouldn’t be sliding off easily though. I would suggest meeting with a CPST to make sure you have them on right. It’s for sure not my favorite to install. There are far easier seats. And doesn’t always get a great newborn fit (again more reliable seats for this) but it’s cheaper and is safe as long as the newborn gets a good fit and it’s installed correctly.
This seat has been discontinued. And honestly the affordable car seat market is lacking. I wish there were more options for families with a lower income.

In the US all car seats pass the same tests. They are pass/fail so if a seat is legally on the market (as these two are of course) then it passed. Only one brand releases their test data (clek) so we have no data to compare it too.
Thank you for the informative video installation. I was following the book instructions for Rear facing to rock it at the belt entry to test but I didn't know how hard to do it. still moves if shoved moderately up top but felt great to get confirmation I was testing it correctly.
Followed instructions on the seat belt method but I feel like it’s just not tight enough and I don’t know how to make it any tighter. Pulling real hard on the seat belt and maybe I’m being too forceful but I’m easily able to go side to side with some force. Front to back it’s good but side to side it isn’t.
You only test at the belt path with the force of a handshake. Don’t test at the end of the base. Focus on tightening just the lap belt first. Then pull the slack out through the shoulder belt and slide it through the lock off. If you cannot get a safe seatbelt install I would move the seat to a seating position with the lower anchors. Those usually have no trouble getting tight enough on this specific base.
I’m sorry you disliked the beginning of the video. I am also reviewing the car seat. There is a lot more that goes into it than just the install. That being said. You’re welcome to skip ahead to the install of the seat.
If the head rest of the convertible seat bumps into the headrest of your car and cannot go up any higher then yes. If it clears the headrest and there is no interference then no.
So my child is 3 months today. The manual says to change the base angle for 3+ months. Are you saying we dont have to? Because i cant seem to get it level for the 3 months location
No you do not have to change recline at 3 months. It’s just not an option to use that recline until 3 months. The 0+ recline is safe for the life of the seat but is required under three months
You do not have to but then the child needs to buckle the booster in every time they exit the vehicle. If you use the lower anchors then it is not a projectile risk and the child does not need to to be buckled in when empty
We love Diono, our daughter just turned 9 and uses the Diono Monterey high back booster and she totally loves it! She gets her owne cupholders, its super duper comfy ( her words ) and she likes that she has her owne special seat in the car thats just for her. Great video!❤
This seat is a pain to get level. Only check on a completely flat surface. If you’re on an incline disregard it being off center. The recline level is so finicky. If you keep having issues the baseless install is easier to get level.
No you cannot per the manual. Graco only allows either the seatbelt or lower anchors. This is because it was either tested with both and failed or was not tested and we don’t know if it would fail or act correctly in a crash. The manual for the triride says one or the other not both which means the car seat has passed testing with one or the other.
This video was so much more helpful than Chicco’s. I couldn’t get pull thread 1 to tighten well (rear facing) and going under the padding worked great! THANK YOU!
It is not one of the infant seats I recommend expecting parents for many reasons. Have you moved the straps up a slot if it’s now below the baby’s shoulders? Also have you moved the straps out to the next slot where it attaches to the splitter plate? And have you moved the crotch buckle off newborn routing? (One of the reasons I don’t recommend it is because of how many changes you have to make to the straps as baby grows 😅)
