Of the three items… Rod/Line/Reel. The importance is 1) Rod; 2) Line ; 3) Reel If you’re spending the $ on quality start with the rod. Choose quality line. Choose any $75-$100 reel and you’re set.
VIOAOEAFA makes a decent one, and it's cheaper/has better reviews but it might not look as cool, theme-willing. (I don't work for them, I'm just trying to be helpful)
I have five lews spinning reals starting at ultra light to the 300 series. No problems that's why why I have five plus one Abu Garcia will a broken bail spring in the rod locker. They are as good as any spinning real I've ever used period. Not to mention the prices.
If one cannot catch fish with a decent brand name $50.00 rod and reel setup then they don't what fishing is all about. Too many people today think they need to spend +$500.00 in order to catch fish and end up giving up quickly due to loosing interest and hours of boredom. Make the best of fishing and bring along some good food, a camp-stove, and use a fishing bell so you also take nap while fishing. The thing is to be prepared even if you don't catch anything and make the best of the outdoors while you are there.... I have used a Quantum Optix with a 7 foot Berkley Power Pole for the last 5 years and this outfit cost me about $40 used and I typically out-fish over +95% of the people at the lake on any given day.....!
