Hello ....fellow plant lovers. Join me in my 40 plus years of house plant addiction & gardening journey and my dogs. I have been an avid grower for over 40 years gardening and growing house plants. I wanted to do this to share my plants, my experiences and learn but mostly have fun and meet plant loving people. I look forward to meeting you all and the experience of growing plants together! ✌💖 PEACE & LOVE💖
@LeafyConversations oh ya. I take thrm out in spring after last frost and back in in early fall I start dragging them all back in. They do fine. Love it out there in the summer. And easier for me to take care of to
Thank you for the thorough video. This is the first video I have seen where it is explained to take the outer “wrapping” off of the comer. Thank you. I am a newbie with elephant ears.
I had a beautiful Anthurium called 'Heart of Jesus.' It was lime green, with a red heart in the middle. Winter complicates the care. I'd have to learn and try it again.
Hey Suzi, it's lookin good. Happy Summer to you. Question :Do you have a leaf cleaning method, using a solution made of other foods? I've seen garlic and water, banana peel and milk. I'm thinking that more thorough leaf cleaning might cut down on pests and remove more dust, than just a cloth. Do you have any secret potion you use? Take care. ❤
I just take mine in the shower and spray them really good ,then I use my neem oil, soap, and water spray front and backs. Let them drip then put them back. For the heavy plants that I can't pick up. I fill a bucket with hot soapy water and som neem oil and wipe them down. In the summer for plants I take outside on my porch I do the same spray with hose then spray with neem solution. That's all I do and ha e always done for many years and it works well for me. No pests and keeps them clean shiny and peat free!!
@@tropicalplantmomma I used to use soapy water, actually with dishwashing liquid (is that too strong?) but some plants didn't like that. I do power spray leaves B4 I water them. I've never seen Neem oil, in a store. I'll have to find a good garden shop, instead of a big store which sells everything, for home building and garden etc. The old nursery people have retired. Mealy bugs attacked my Hoya really bad. Scale is after an orchid. I'm wondering why the plants are inviting pests. The others have moving insect targets which I see, so that doesn't get so bad. I'll try. I have to get a bit more fanatic. 😅🌱🌱🌱🌿🌿☘️
@cefcat5733 that's what I use is dishwasher liquid. As long as it doesn't have bleach or anything in it I've never had an issue with it. And no anthuriums don't go dormant in the winter.bi grow mine outside in summer to.
@@tropicalplantmomma I don't know where you are, but that must be great to have them outside. Here they come from Vietnam. I don't think that the sunlight is enough in Winter
Thank you for this relaxing video. I was ready with my knitting project and my dog on my lap. I forgot all about the coffee, but it was nice to watch while knitting. 😊 I have a huge two years old spider plant that is starting to have babies. She's had a rough life. First a year in a terrarium where woodlouses nibbled on her roots, then a month in a muddy bucket. She looked more dead than alive, but she got fresh soil and a big pot, perfect light and BOOM she grew like an explosion. I'm thinking about putting her into semi hydro for her next repot. Do you have any experience with that?
Thats a Great comeback story. they sure are hardy. No I have never grown a spider in semi hydro. might be worth a shot. I know the babies root great in water. Maybe try some babies first ?? let me know how it turns out,,,,
Thank you so much this video was very helpful and informative as it’s my first time trying to grow plants from bulbs! I’m glad I watched because one of the bulbs I had was moldy halfway through like yours, I carved out the mushy part and left it to dry but the white inner part is now starting to get that fuzzy type of mold on it, is there anything I can do? Or is it a lost cause?
How do you keep her happy being that dry?? O honestly need ro know .. i love mine but the struggle to keep her perfectly moist is ridiculous... any tips are appreciated
I don't keep her dry . she doesn't like to dry out. the soil mix I use is mixed with spag and some small bark then I place spagg on top and lots of humidity. If you have her in a super chunky soil mix that may be the problem. All I use is soil, spagg, a little bit of small bark and lot of perlite and I don't struggle to keep her moist. to much chunky soil mix may be the problem
Has yours overproduced teeny, tiny white tri-petaled flowers?? I've had my monster for 4 years & this is the 1st time she has ever done this? What'll happen if I paintbrush pollinate this plant?? Any info is welcomed, thanks!
@@tropicalplantmomma Well, I guess this just means that my plant here is our 1st test subject? I did it last night, I'll keep you posted with any new or interesting updates!
