That kit is tighter than my ex-wife 😂...on a serious note, is thinned out epoxy on every piece a normal boat building technique. I've done it on the outside but not the inside wood. Seems to me that even though it's thin it's still adding weight?
I don't thin my epoxy. When mixed, it has the viscosity of pancake syrup. Yes, it adds weight, but the wood has to be waterproofed in one way or another. I've seen some people paint the insides of their mostly or fully built boats with a nice, thick layer of epoxy. This method uses far less. All the parts will get another wipe-down before areas are enclosed or hidden, and finally the entire hull gets a second wipe down. This will allow epoxy to get into all the micro gaps in the wood-wood joints. Stay tuned and you will see what I mean.
Looks like more work, but it'll probably be worth it in the long run 👍 ..sobering reminder at the end there about the time we have left and what to do with it 🫡
Big b was pretty pissed 3so maybe when he cools down he'll come up with one of his great ideas. Me ... I'd be getting a wetsuit on and snorkel and diving for that sucker. Have you seen h2o mechanics maiden with the hydroplane. It looks really good.
Awesome, i thought it was a fiberglass hull kit. I'm glad to see it's a good ol fashioned wood kit. I now have everything for the atlas build but I'm going to get the outrigger first if long duk sung fu ever gets me my order. Looking forward to the build
It's about time you accepted a freebie. You deserve it and they've obviously watched some of your videos and know what your about so i wouldn't worry about not going to race specks. You'll do it justice and I can't wait to see it
Well ok, that was different. I got this awesome servo tester off of Etsy. It's anduino based , runs on a 5v phone charger and centers automatically and push a button and it fully rotates the servo in both directions. It's about 2x4 in. And you have to build it yourself which I thoroughly enjoyed. Most of the ones on the market run off the receiver which is a pain in the butt. Unfortunately the guy that sells these sold me his last one.
@@jimstone5339 Uhhh....... Technical difficulties.... Today's trip was a flustercluck from the git-go. Nothing went right. Be glad I slowed the video down to make it almost (but not quite) watchable. 🙄
@@Dr_Jet I'll be patient but I hope there's more boat videos. Sorry you had a bad time with it. You saw the quality of my video attempt. It's not easy being on video like you and big b.
Love your channel! Was looking into the toucan e380 gray cat and searching RU-vid for some vids and came across your channel. Glad I did, very cool seeing the modifications and top secret builds. Figured I’d say hey and look forward to future vids!
Yes those were the videos that popped up when I searched for the toucan. Very cool build! Like the clamping motor mounts and easy access! Surprisingly not any other vids that I could find on the stock single version. Awesome looking boat, wondering how it ran. Your twin appears to run pretty well so may pull the trigger on the pnp version, although overseas shipping always stinks having to wait a month or so
Nothing wrong with destruction 👍 I learn so much from taking apart my creations, mostly how well they are constructed, like my shrimp rigger, I used 95% CA to glue to put it together. After driving it into some tree limbs and destroying the motor mount plus the prop I destructed it and found the CA was as good as anything else I’ve used on thin plywood.
Properly applied, CA is a VERY EFFECTIVE adhesive..... I know, there are many projects out there with small pieces of my fingers permanently glued to them....
Just thinking loud.......but will it (Canard) work with just longer rudder, close to 90 degrees position to the hull, with some type of hydrofoil on the bottom end to keep it "flat"..... and "recovery" surface will create the front of the hull itself? This will also reduce drag from front ski.
Is it, no it can't be...a black jack 24 v2😮. Alright Dr jet! Next you'll be getting a arian and racing big b😅 i have the same black jack and I've stripped it and i have made it into a twin with 2 2958 4000kv rocket motors. Haven't run it yet though.
I've been observing the pb80(I think that's what their calling it) and with your modifications your getting very close to what they built. What is interesting is their turn fin. It's about the middle of the wing but it's on the fuselage. I'm wondering if that's to help them turn better, acting more like a pivot point. My opinion is that with the turn fin out on the sponson it's making the rudder work against it. I could be wrong. Now that you have a ski/ rudder I think that's on the right track and also the extended fuselage for better balance. It's looking good and good luck on your test run
A turtle! A turtle has front canard steering ..and God bless our patron saint of the boat gang. He's truly a good dude. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful to all
As I thought about front steering, all of a sudden "bicycle" came to mind. Then motorcycle, tricycle, wagon, automobile, semi-truck, Flexi-Flyers, horse-drawn carriages, tricycle-gear airplanes (taildraggers like to groundloop a lot). I feel better now......
Recently there was what their calling a record breaking sailboat, it's really a reverse outrigger. You should really take a look at it. It is different from what you are doing but it is an actual outrigger. Just forget about the sail part, it's just a parachute tied to the boat. What I noticed was the rudder
I looked up that boat Wow, it's a cross between the old Starship outrigger, a canard and a kite with a front-steering rudder........ Interestingly enough POC V4.0 has a LOT in common with it (other than the swooping curves).
Wow... Another beautiful one. I would love to have one. Thank you Dr. Jet for making the video of the plans to build a remote control boat in various forms. You are my teacher. I have subscribed to your channel. With respect.

Hello Dr. Jet, please give me a chance to see this blueprint. I really appreciate it. I am following your creation video Dr. Jet. Thank you very much. 🙏🙏🙏😊
