K and n are fucking terrible, I see so many idiots willingly buy their over priced and generally shit products, you can mod an intake for better sound very easily with cheap parts. I wouldn't recommend at all but I'm currently running a filter I made using two tshirt material sandwiched in between two pieces of fly wire, gets me the sound I want and it literally costed nothing
@@SuperSnakePlissken one of the all time great engines! the 1998 - 2000 is the year range you want to look for... that's when toyota added VVT-i, ACIS, and electronic throttle control which added about 40 hp from the previous 1UZ, as well as significantly widening the torque curve and even increasing mpgs too
from what i've read over the years there's two major reasons: in the early 70s the HP measurement system was changed from gross (the pure reading of the engine output) to net (the power after factoring in accessory losses) so instantly published power figures took a sudden 25% or so drop, and yea the other factor was the oil crisis leading to new emissions regulations... leaded gasoline was banned around this time too which further dropped HP numbers since it acted like an octane booster
