I grew up just up the road, but never knew about this place. The knowledge that these girls have been here my whole life without my knowledge has been eating me alive as I just found out about it. Thanks for this video. I hope they are resting in peace.
You should have gone to Britannia Beach Mine. It's were they filmed the iconic mine mill building from Erlenmeyer Flask. It's a very interesting place and still looks like in the series. Lot's of other films and series were filmed there as well and in the museum cafe they have autographs of all those shows.
This location used to be a Mister Donut! Mr Donut came to the Chicagoland area 40+ years ago and left just as soon as they opened up many stores. Chicago has always been a Dunkin town!
I almost forgot to ask. Was there no location for the gas station/bar that the brothers stay ? I'm guessing it was a set and also the place where they were making moonshine and got discovered by guy pearce?
Thanks for this insightful video and commentary. It's a great benefit for people like myself who are interested in preserving the resting places of "all people" regardless of their fate. It also provides an in-depth eye witness view of the grounds, as if you've been there yourself! I knew a family whose daughter was incarcerated there from 1930-1935. This girl ran away from home "a runaway" which as one of the commenters noted below was "considered a crime" in those days. ISTG was a detainment center for young girls and one can only imagine the types of things that went on there from the 1880's through the 1970's. One can only imagine the experiences that the girls endured behind closed doors. If a young girl happened to get pregnant by choice, force or incest, they were carted off to institutions like this and locked away. Notice that within a few years mostly all of the girls died after just a few years of being there and at very early ages. Read, Research, Reveal and Review... RIP
We went my gf and I a couple years ago we just went back today. There's a crazy amount of graffiti but still is a bit of a special place for us since it was our first time going out together
I was doing some research looking for videos unrelated. But glad your video popped up. I've toured the prison a couple times years ago. And been to a concert on the outside of it. Been wanting to take my kids and go see it again. Definitely going to have to take time and go.
That's awesome I love supernatural since day one. And The Walking Dead. Me and my mom went to Senoia Georgia a few years ago and spent a whole week going to every filming location we could find. It was amazing. I would love to do what you're doing for supernatural.
They filmed right down the road from me in between Bastrop and Paige off of hwy 21. They shot there for like 2weeks split. I’ve been trying to find where the location is at on the show but haven’t had any luck yet. I think it was in 2022
This is pretty darn cool! Ever since my sister and I did a similar thing for Lord of the Rings during our trip to New Zealand, I've had it in my mind to do it for my favourite tv show (Supernatural). I'm planning a ski trip to Vancouver for a few years time and googled Supernatural filming locations and this video caught my attention. Great inspiration and ideas for me - definitely going to the bunker, crossroads and the portal. I'll also *probably* be doing the Winchester family home, Bobby Singer's salvage yard, and the bridge in the last scene. I just wish someone did a more comprehensive video with all the iconic/meaningful locations! (Hint, hint...) There's another video that literally just shows a lot of alleyway locations, which don't really mean anything to me...
