Tbh, though some shots were definetly not the best in live-action, I quite enjoyed it. I'd say that some parts like gun shooting in sync with music are even better than the original. Also, I like how its text mirrors anime, so if something is written in english it's in japanese and vice versa.
I give the live action one compliment. It’s pretty cool to have the 3 misc guns fired instead be the 3 main fighters of the team. But man the live action feels like it drags on for so long and looses its independence. The original felt connected to the show but completely viable as its own work of art, while the remake becomes a basic clip reel and fails to understand the sharp, jazzy, and bold vibe of it all. Like seriously seeing the actors hold up the guns rather than tuning it into slow-mo in the 3 shot lineup is embarrassing
I'm gonna be honest, I don't know why people are hating the Netflix OP. It's honestly not that bad, and they kept the same style as the original, which should be appreciated a bit more.
I still thought the live action was alright. I just treated it as an alternate universe. They did butcher Vicious and Faye though, and honestly there was just no way they could have gotten Ed right. That character only works in anime form. A live action version was always just going to come off as cringe and annoying.
The original had english text, which fit the vibe, obviously when someone in japan names a show "cowboy" they probably want it to have a western vibe. The netflix version has japanese text because "woah wacky japanese thing! it's an anime guys look at all the anime letters!"
honestly i felt like the parts that didnt fully replicate the original like they were added on their own looked fine but the parts that were replicated looked awkward like it wasn't fluid enough
One problem with the Netflix adaptation is at the start at 0:01 The moving lines on the animated version flicker so that when they disappear it makes it easier on the eyes so its barely noticeable. The Netflix adaptation has solid lines that literally disappear out of thin air. Just one instance of imitation without understanding the originals creative intentions.
It's insane how out of touch even the intro is. Vicious isn't supposed be in the intro and neither is Julia. These characters are an important part of the main story later. Even original shows know better than to do this.
Man, FUCK your jumpscare, 2 seconds of the scary image is the MAX! (also, people can see it while looking through the timeline and it gives them a warning)
I feel like I am the singular person in the whole world who loves both the Netflix series and original, for admittedly different reasons, but I still love both, and I think the netflix intro looks better in some parts, the original looks better in others... Seems like im alone in this sentiment though lol 😅
When you realize they couldn't even get someone else to light spikes lighter, everything else falls apart. Such a lack of attention to detail in an attempt to stay "original" that it almost spits in the face of the original source material.
Last night I was watching this video, I was alone in my bed, and when the Stage 4 Jumpscare happened, I only found myself turning the phone away and hiding under the covers haha
