Very entertaining Kraft Music Hall Special with four tremendous talents. I enjoyed the segment where Martin Landau plays an actor auditioning for a play. He even has a Rollin Hand from Mission: Impossible moment.
It was very brave of Martin Landau and Barbara Bain to sing on the same stage with Robert Goulet and Carol Lawrence. That's all I'm going to say about that.
What a shame such talented couples were both divorced years later. Martin Landau and Barbara Bain were not singers, but certainly Martin could carry a tune. Wonderful actor.
Wonderful! What a great variety show. Martin and Barbara are such wonderful actors. It’s so good to see them doing comedy too. So glad this was preserved. Thanks for sharing it! 👏🏻
Interesting that the lyrics about John (John F. Kennedy) are missing from Landau's rendition. Carol Lawrence was an acquaintance of JFK...photographed with him a couple of days before his assassination. I wonder if the JFK lyrics might've been too difficult for her to hear.
I love Barbara Bain+++ . Today, I watched the original M.I. When, last winter I Had a flu, I just sat on my recliner, watched the original Mission impossible days and nights. Some of episodes I watched more than Two times.😁😄😆
Wonderful. Nice historic reminder of how good pop music was during the 60s. Landau and Bain were of course not great singers -- they were actors, first and foremost -- but their singing here, although kinda pale next to that of Goulet and Lawrence, is pretty decent. And Goulet is outstanding here. He reins in that big, borderline-operatic baritone to sing lyrically, and beautifully.
Acting is tough sole destroying work with rejection just around the corner. I admire those who are brave enough to try. Landau was great and full if what it took to make it!
I think it was to emphasise the effect of certain unpleasant toxic substances that Carol was singing about, so yes, it was pretend I'm pretty sure. It was a fun medley though, wasn't it?
@@janenewman9388 Thanks Jane. It was funny. Thank goodness for the internet and You Tube to be able to see these videos. I come from the UK so these programmes were not shown here. It's great to see them now
I loved both of them in Space 1999 (currently watching re-runs) but I had no idea Martin Landau was quite such an amazing actor. That audition sketch is incredible and very touching - Martin Landau breaks my heart with his emotions! Thank you for posting this - I just love it.
Awww, I think he sang beautifully! I have to say Robert Goulet has the most gorgeous voice, and you can see which two are the trained singers, but I think Martin and Barbara did a grand job nonetheless.
Thank you so much. As Landau Fan, I never saw it before. You have made my day! Greetz and a big Thank You from Europe! And if there is more, please... post it. What a incredible Piece, you found!
