Holladay also has a rickhouse proof red wheat, and a rickhouse version of their normal bourbon. Both are great. I haven't tried the normal red wheat yet.
I haven't tried any Barrell products other than the Seagrass, and I really like that one. You can get it pretty cheap at Sam's Club. I would be interested to hear how it compares to the Dovetail, as I might try that one.
Have you guys tried Mi Familia Flores Reserva Suprema Tequila? They have it at Total Wine. So far it's my favorite, but due to the price, it's for special occasions.
This was the bottle that turned me into a snob. I haven't had in awhile but my notes were peat, charcoal/campfire, smoked meats, a bit of dill pickle, and salt air. And non chill filtered means what is says. Chill filtering takes all the sediment and wood oils out of the spirit.
Thanks for sharing. I've got a couple of bottles on order .. one to send to an irish friend. Look forward to tasting it when it arrives in the next few days. Ofcourse, the thing to try is compare Bushmills to Jamesons (if you havent already).
Caribou Crossing is owned by Sazarac who also owns Buffalo Trace. From what I understand it's bottled at Buffalo Trace, using (most likely) mash bill #2, which would include Blanton's and Rockhill Farms. The bottle is a RHF bottle with a topper similar to Blanton's but it's a *caribou* instead of a horse, the juice is a proofed down Blanton's, and the name is a play on Buffalo Trace. It's the "Canadian Blanton's" but unlike Blanton's they don't label any of the barrel or bottling info. That said they only release it twice a year which is less than Blanton's, so I'm not sure which would technically be more "rare" . Enjoyed the review, cheers guys🤙🏻
