For us, creating software is a way to contribute to making every new construction around the world safer and cheaper.
Sometimes in the loads, load values are visible but when you click load percentage, i'm not able to input any percentage because the whole input row somehow is not there. Again when i click percentage load and go back to actula values, i can see the input row. I don't know why this happens.
hi, the AISC consider the secant stiffness (which is the service moment not design moment ) for comparing the limits of rigid or pin connection, while euro code consider 2/3 of member capacity, i think there is a major difference, please advice if ideastatica can consider AISC code .
I have the exact same connexion on my project but when I select the members there is still no suggestion, could it be because I am using a trial version?
TEKLA like interface with operation would have been great. Lot of time goes into modelling operations. If i have 2000 connections, then going for each joint and modelling would be very complicated just by giving inputs. If there is tekla like intrrface, then cutting operations modelling operation and measuring the dimensions for complicated connections would make life much easier. Just add a feature to measure distance like autocad would be a great help for dimension verification.
I had done a similar connection. But in the report it shows the following note for the Bolt M48: "There is a gap between connected plates. Bending in bolts is not considered in this numerical model and plates are not clamped. Provided resistances of bolts in shear and plates in bearing may be incorrect." Please suggest on how to check the bolt for Bending arising from the separated plates in contact.
Hello, you can check it manually - convert to beam loaded by shear forces. You can now change bolts to pins. See here: www.ideastatica.com/support-center/steel-pins
At 20:01 you said one can use the Secant Stiffness for the global analysis and for joint classification. In spite of that, as per 20:48, joint classification is based on Initial Stiffness and as per 29:43 you use Sini for global analysis. When to use Secant Stiffness?
That makes us very happy! Feel free to check out version 24.0 - www.ideastatica.com/support-center/release-notes-idea-statica-24-0 and version 24.1 is coming soon and you have a lot to look forward to!
Hi, I want to know how idea statica calculates the axial force design "Ned" in one bolt, I have many books but none of them reach the result I.S., so I would like to know how to calculate it manually, in order to control my connexion
I have STAAD pro Connect edition & IDEA STATICA 21.1, but then I'm unable to Open "IDEA STATICA CHECKBOT " from User tools in STAAD....!!! i e therz no option as "IDEA STATICA CHECKBOT " in user tools drop down....Plz help me.
Hello, the BIM link between IDEA StatiCa version 21.1 is compatible with STAAD.Pro version 22. We recommend downloading the newest version of IDEA StatiCa as well as STAAD.Pro for the best compatibility. You can find the list of supported 3rd party applications under this link: www.ideastatica.com/support-center/bim-links-supported-versions-of-3rd-party-applications
Hello, Does the "all zeros" in "Unbalanced Forces" only apply when there is a connection between two steel profiles? I'm designing a steel-to-concrete connection and I never get those zeros. Additionally, in your "Connection Wednesdays - Design of Anchorages between Steel and Concrete" webinar, there is an example where we see the same load values in the "Unbalanced Forces" section, which matches what I am also experiencing. Thanks.
i have a question related to first connection example, in your solved connection, we see that red stresses transferred from connection plate to the members at different buckling modes, and then you began after that to talk about sigma cr that it have to be more than 3 , does this mean that buckling limit factor will be compared to limitations of local buckling case instead of global ? and why ? is not it supposed to be the same connection which has the same global characteristics !!
Hello, first of all, we don't see stresses when I look at the buckling shapes. We look at the deformed buckle shape. The red spots are the plates that will buckle if we reach the buckling load. Then, when we stiffened the connection (solved connection) one buckling mode is at the beam and then in the brace member. In that case, the buckling limit factor changes as now is not on the gusset plate, but in one of the members, that is why we modify our limit factor. Does it makes sense? Thank you for the feedback.
@@andreacastelo- yes i understand this point , you mean that we will cancel the last comparison point on the slide that was made between global & local buckling related to these number of sides of the plate that are connected. and this was basically the reason why i inquire about this, because simply the gusset plate remains connected only from one side, but now i understand that what is prior for me as you clarified that i will jump to local limits of buckling when the worst case of buckling and red spots transferred to the members after stiffening the plate ,,,, very good
Hello. Stiffness of some part of column (e.g. 1.25*h) also included in bending stiffness analysis? If it is so, then how can I account for that in global analysis? Wouldn't it be a mistake, because a column is already in global model?
Hello - using the stiffness values obtained from this analysis you can include them in some FEA applications as joint stiffnesses. Using this approach a better fit to actual behaviour might be possible.
Hello, Congratulations on this amazing software. Is it possible to use anchors on a concrete already casted, or is it necessary for the concrete to be new? If yes, what parameters exist to characterize the casted concrete? Thanks.
Hello - in our calculations we do not distinguish between existing or new concrete. All that we require is its design strength. This can be modified by the user if required.
Hi, is it possible to solve lateral buckling of concrete reinforced slender beam in bending (something similar to lateral torsional buckling in steel) in idea statica? I meant about GMNIA analysis.
Hi, If i am using US code i can not find the brace system in the code setup. second question i am analysing the connection of a truss to column, i should take the total length of the truss(26 meter) or only the length to the second vertical unit of the truss (2 meter)
